Hello all! So I recently upgraded my computer so I could buy a nicer editing program and I decided on Corel. However while I'm editing videos, the playback is really bad and choppy looking in the preview window. It lags behind the play bar, stops and starts, etc. I went into the settings and checked some stuff in the performance category. That seemed to make it better yesterday, but now I'm having the same problem today.
I'm using video studio x7 ultimate on a laptop with 8GB RAM and new specs. Anyone know ho I can fix the preview quality while editing? Thank you.

Re: VideoStudio x7 - really choppy video preview? help?
First you need to tell us what format video you are trying to play and edit. Right click on one of the clips in the Video Studio timeline and copy ALL its Properties here, please, or else take a screen shot of the Properties box and upload it here.
We need to know this since some of us here, me included, have less powerful computers than yours but don't have the problem you describe. Others with far less powerful computers do, especially with AVCHD video which is extremely demanding of computer resources. Be aware that Video Studio comes with a feature called SmartProxy which creates copies ("proxies") of your high definition originals but in standard definition format which makes them much easier to play and preview and edit. When satisfied with the edits, they are then applied back to the originals. Be patient though: the creation of the proxy files can take some time.

Thanks! Here is my clip information:

I turned on the Smart Proxy feature in the settings before. Do I get a progress bar of when the proxy files are being created? Should I get one?
Thank you for your help!
