here is another one showing VS with the same problem, I disabled Photo Gallery think that would solve the problem but no, the dialogue box says something to the effect that the Picture Motion Browser and the camera are in conflict sighting a NTSC/PAL mismatch

Shut down the Picture Motion Browser ( or dump it) as it seems to be interfering with VS X6

or use PMB to capture.

You can't have two programs trying to do the same thing

Why won't Windows let you remove the program?

Download the free version of RevoUninstaller (google it) and run in the moderate mode.

Hi Graham

I think the program is provided by the operating system Windows 8 so I doubt that it will allow you to uninstall it.

You should be able to set the Auto Play options to ignore the camera connection to do nothing.

From the Start button open Control Panel, find Auto Play and open that.
The list shows the programs that will automatically run showing in different categories.
At the top I see “ Choose what happens when you insert each type of media or device”

Unless your camera is specifically mentioned look under Devices,
The Digital Video Device may be the one you are looking for, the right panels show the action taken, change that to Take No Action.

Now connect the camera and switch on, NO programs should automatically run.

If they do close the program and view the Auto Play panel to find the correct option.

If no program starts, simply open Video Studio to capture your footage.
You can also try WinDV.

You can only use one program at a time to capture via firewire

PMB is supplied by Sony.
Try inserting the disc again and see if one of the options is to uninstall it.
If you think it may be improperly installed, without the uninstall option try reinstalling it.
I can't see any reason for it not to be in programmes to uninstall.

Having turned off Auto start for the programs that started when I connected the camera I accessed the camera via VS which raised a dialogue box I have typed the message here:-The Program has encountered an unspecified error and has stopped functioning.
Please contact Corel Technical Support and send the dump file for analysis.

Have you enabled "Show Hidden files"?

In any case, those dump files can only be read by Corel. No one here knows anything about them, so there would be no point in posting it here in any case.

Hi Graham

Try using Win DV instead of Video Studio.
You indicated earlier that you had downloaded this program.
Close Video Studio and open Win DV.

You had problems with the cameras connection being lost/disconnected.
Have you cured the connection problem.
Does Device Manager always show the camera as being connected.

As Ken says Dump files are no good to us, we cannot read them and if we could we probably would not understand them.
