videostudio X7 keeps freezing during rendering

Post by throck04 »

I am trying to make a video clip of some pics from a trip I took. I am trying to render as a MPEG-2 so that I can put on a DVD later. Every time I try to render the program completely freezes either half way through or at 98%.
Only way I can close or stop the program is to go into task manager and end task.
I am new to all this so please help. This is the first time I have used the program so im not happy that the first time I use it I cant get it to work.
I have tried to get a hold of tech support however my support code I was giving wont work either!!

many thanks

What is the format of the video in the project? Right click on one of the clips in the VS timeline and copy all its Properties here, please, or take a screen grab of the Properties box and upload it here as an attachment.

ok so I took out all my music I put in and it worked.
I am using music I downloaded from iTunes. So is this something I can not do? I paid for the songs so why would it not work?

I also was a new user of vs x7 and had the same problem of freezing during rendering, and, after many hours of speculation and testing, I finally isolated the freezing to a specific video clip. All 4 clips used in the complete video being created played fine, but during rendering, one was causing a problem. To be certain, I re-imported the clips from my Canon Vixia Mini camcorder, but the same clip, while rendering, caused the system to freeze at the same spot at the end. As an experiment, I clipped the last 1/2 second from the bad clip, and that solved the problem completely. It looks like the rendering software checks the clips for more types of errors than the playback software does. The way I found the bad clip was to separately render smaller and smaller sections until only the bad clip was left. I hope this helps others, as it took me about two days to resolve the problem.

That depends entirely on what format the music from i-tunes was - can you give us the properties of the music file.

Plus you have paid to listen to it, not to use it in a video.

Yes, editing is more stringent with quality files than watching.

It can be done, in iTunes convert the track to mp3, copy the track into a converter, FormatFactory or similar and convert to wma and you're set to go, you will be able to successfully render.

Hey Robert
That did the trick. I convered the songs to WMA and was able to render without any issues.
Many thanks!!
