AfterShotPro2 Keyword Sets

Post by BrosiusPhotos »

I'm still experimenting with AfterShotPro2. I just noticed the Keyword Sets I created in AfterShotPro did not get created in ASP2. Furthermore, when I went back to ASP, all my Keyword Sets are gone from there as well. Is there a way to recover my keyword sets? It seems like installing the trial version deleted them.

Thanks.

Are they perhaps not present in the .AfterShotPro settings folder? I'm just guessing version 1 and 2 had different folder names, then you should be able to copy the old presets to the new folder. I always have a backup disk, so in these cases I can recover from there.

I see a file called "keywordSets.xml" in the .AftershotPro/local/en directory. unfortunately this does not contain my keyword sets prior to installing AfterShot Pro 2. I must have installed ASP2 to the same location as AfterShot Pro. I'm guessing ASP2 overwrote my version of the "keywordSets.xml" file.

I have 7 days of backups however I didn't notice this issue until my 7 days of backups rolled off. I'm surprised the software would overwrite existing files.

If it would function well, I agree that a new install/upgrade should never overwrite current settings. That's what the .local folder is for. I hope someone from Corel can answer this.

The .local thingy is Linux only. The way the AS user folder is structured, it would be totally wrong to use that for the AS user folder.

But contents of the AS user folder should never be overwritten by a new install (but AS recreates items at startup when they are deleted).

I usually don't use keyword sets, but I just tested this (on Linux 64bit):
Moved my AS2 user folder to a safe place.
Added some keyword set in AS1
Copied the AS1 user folder under the name of the AS2 user folder
Opened AS2.
The keyword set created with AS1 is available with AS2.

Yes, of course, but if you install ASP2 over your existing ASP1, it will overwrite (almost) all your settings and you will not find them anymore after starting the application for the first time.
However, it seems that if you apply some settings within ASP2, and then install a new version (2.0.1.5 over 2.0.1.33, for instance), your settings are still there.
So, the problem reported by Kneops might only occur when upgrading from ASP1 to ASP2.

My test just shows that it is not so...
