It seems to depend on what country your coming from, thus the confusion.

Started VideoStudio Pro X7 yesterday, 7/11 here in Thailand, perhaps 7/10 in the states. Was informed that Service Pack 1 was available and offered to install. List of fixes sounded good, so I thought "Sure... Why not?"

After installing, had lots of problems with rendering a video comprised mostly of MP4 video clips shot with a Sony pocket camera. Removing certain clips would allow it to progress further, so my first thought was that maybe there was something wrong with the input clip.

But just rebooted into Windows 7 64-bit, and ran the same VSP file. Rendered the whole thing just fine. Looks like I'll be uninstalling and re-installing Pro X7 under 32-bit Windows 7, which is where the service pack was installed.

Grr? A bad patch that's been removed from the US website probably shouldn't be offered for installation to users in other countries either. A bad patch is a bad patch.

Hello
Videostudio X7 wiht or without sp1
Bugs appears with Comodo Firewall, not without.

Salutations

ADMIN EDIT - GOOGLE TRANSLATION

I clearly identified and verified a fatal conflict between:
- Comodo Firewall 7.0.317799.4142 in French as at 17 May 2014,
and
- Corel Videostudio Pro or Corel Videostudio Ultimate X7 X7 (multilanguage)

If I install Videostudio Pro or Corel Videostudio Ultimate X7 X7 without Comodo,
Videostudio installs and opens in French and without conflict; so no problem.

If I install Videostudio X7 after installing Comodo firewall,
Videostudio settles well in French, as selected, but opens définivement in English
and conflicts or bugs that make the software unusable.

- If the installation processes Corelvideo then after Comodo firewall, always the same?
YES **, installing Comodo passed using Videostudio from French to English.

- HIPS mode is enabled? cloud? auto sandbox?
** Not for everything, but nothing seems to change bug.

- The installation of the firewall is default or custom?
Custom **, but nothing seems to change bug.

- Adding a rule "permitted purposes" for Corel VideoStudio Is it the same?
YES **, but nothing seems to change bug.

- In the setup Corelvideo the choice of language is accessible?
** Choice of language for the installation, not the app, once installed.

- If I close only Comodo, Videostudio nevertheless apear, but in English, and buggy.
- If I uninstall Comodo, Videostudio returns in French; bug tested on XP SP3 32-bit and 64 Seven

I am having X7 crashes during edit using MP4 files. It is crashing at splitting of video clip. After reading comments on this, I'm hesitant to do the patch in the middle of working on this project. Does anyone know if this has been fixed or the other issues with the patch have been corrected?

thanks so much,
Candy

I had problem with MOV files (Olympus EM1) when I tried to inport. It crashed VS X7!
After I ran this update, all good. No need to downgrade Quicktime.

I'm using ProX7 Ultimate ver 17.1.0.22 but it is crashing when I try to edit MPEG4 files. I read the X7 patch would bring me up to the version I already have so I haven't done the patch. Any ideas on what I should do?

I saved the project as X6 so will use it to finish the project.

thanks,

Hi Candy

There was another problem and fix provided by Corel, I had difficulty with the Knowledge Base to find the actual post so here is an extract.
I don’t know if this will cure your problem but you can only try?

----------------------------------------------------
When trying to import .MOV video files from a Panasonic GH3 or GH4 camera, it may cause Corel VideoStudio Pro X7 / Ultimate X7 to close unexpectedly or when trying to play back the video or import into the timeline the video may appear to be blank.

Details:
Windows event viewer will show the faulting module cause is ulmp4lib.dll.

Resolution:
With VideoStudio Pro X7 \ Ultimate X7 closed download and install the following hotfix.

If you have installed the 32 bit version of VideoStudio Pro X7 / Ultimate X7 follow these steps:

1. Download and save the hotfix to your computer.
ftp://coreluserd:Qgo69iX7@cfs2.corel.co ... H3/x86.zip
2. Extract the zip file into a new folder.
3. Copy and overwrite the ulmp4lib.dll file to the following location:

Windows XP / Windows Vista / Windows 7
C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Pro X7

If you have VideoStudio Ultimate X7 the folder name is:
C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Ultimate X7

If you have installed the 64 bit version of VideoStudio Pro / Ultimate X7 follow these steps:

1. Download and save the hotfix to your computer.
ftp://coreluserd:Qgo69iX7@cfs2.corel.co ... H3/x64.zip
2. Extract the zip file into a new folder.
3. Copy and overwrite the ulmp4lib.dll file to the following location:

Windows Vista / Windows 7 / Windows 8
C:\Program Files\Corel\VideoStudio Pro X7

If you have VideoStudio Ultimate X7 the folder name is:
C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Ultimate X7

Hi Trevor: So far no luck, Pro X7 Ultimate still crashes with MPEG4 files. Here is where I loaded the .dll fix. You might not know but maybe it should be in the setup folder?

thanks for helping,
Candy

Trevor, Update:

I forgot I loaded the .dll file under Setup in addition to under the program file. I deleted the one under Setup, then managed to finish the edit without a crash so far. Will let you know how it goes.

thanks again,

Update: I managed to finish edit of MPEG4 project but then when I try to edit the audio, it crashes. I need to edit the audio so will save the project as X6 and do it there. This is occurring after I did the hotfix for X7 Ultimate.

I have not done the SP1 update yet however due to problems I read. Do you think I should not due that update? Does it apply to X7 Ultimate? I don't want to have to go thru uninstall/install procedure to get it back if things don't work after I've downloaded SP1.

Any ideas?

I don't recall as many crashes when I shot the video in ACVHD and not MPEG4. Maybe I should go back to shooting in ACVHD if I use X7 Ultimate for edit.

thanks for any further suggestions,
Candy

Hi Candy

First of all your version is 17.1.0.22 and that indicates SP1 has been applied.
The one here indicates that. 17.”1”.0.22

Avchd or Mpeg4, if you can record to Avchd then I would use that option

I don’t understand the reference to “edit the audio” and saving to X6.

If you are able to open the mpeg4 project in x6 then edit the audio there.

Hi Trevor:

Edit the audio meant when I clicked on the wave icon to pull up the audio track in the video, X7 Ultimate crashes, so I'm not able to edit the audio. I wanted to lower the volume in certain places. This is a video with a violinist playing and then talking about how he's playing the piece. I had problem of the violin blowing out the audio. If I turned down my one mic that was attached to the camera then his talking would get too low, so I was trying to correct that. Since then I've been to local good camera store and purchased a better independent (away from the camera) microphone where I can record two tracks. I'll just have to do the work to sync them. What I'll do on this project is save it to X6 where editing the audio doesn't crash it. Hope I explained it ok.

Thanks for suggestion to shoot in ACVHD which I normally do. I thought I'd try shooting in MPEG4. I think I found I could get smaller video files shooting in MPEG4 and quality was good enough but just doesn't work well with X7 Ultimate.

Thanks again for your help.

Candy
