VS X6 - immediate crash when capture via firewire

Post by pgturner »

Hello,

I bought Corel VideoStudio Pro X6 last December, used it once to pull some HD video off my Canon HV20 (via firewire) and had no problems. I haven't done much videoing over the past 5 months, but now I tried to capture another miniDV tape, and I get an immediate crash as soon as it starts capturing. I've added the errors below, though they don't seem very helpful. Also, I checked my device manager and the firewire driver is set as legacy, which seems to be the common advice around here. And SP1 for VS x6 is installed.

Anyone heard of something like this?

Thanks a lot for any help you can provide.

(ps - i wasn't sure if I needed to post more about my hardware because I put a bunch of that info in my account when I signed up)

Hi pgturner

There is a free program called Win DV, that captures Mini DV to DV Avi

Please try this program if you still have capture problems then something is wrong with the pc rather than Video Studio.
Win DV allows you to set a file name for your captured clips, you may find this useful.

And you can test HDV capture using another freeware program called HDVSplit. It's the one I use for my own HV20 footage.
