VS X7 Ultimate crashes on entering DVD authoring

I get crashes (Program not responding) when trying to render to the DVD authoring. Support is not helping and my case is open for nearly 6 weeks. I've even upgraded (formatted drive) to Windows 8 in the hope of solving the issue. No luck. Do any one have similar problems and possible solutions? I'm desperate to get projects rendered to DVD.

Can you give us the properties of the videos in the timeline when you open the DVD authoring module - please right click on one of the videos in the timeline and choose 'properties' from the pop up - take a screen shot of the properties box and attach it to your next post.

are all videos in the timeline the same - or do you have a mix ?

I have wmv videos in the intro and sections, and then DVD Mpg files as per the properties and some bmp potos that was done with screenshots in VS. I've even rendered the project as a seperate video file(Also Mpeg but smaller bitrate) to fit on DVD (4.1Gb) andf tried to Author it through a new project. Still crashes. I also find the the program sometimes crashes on exit (even if project is saved) and then askes for a recover file when re-opening.

I've not had any crashing problems with normal files. Do you have any other dvd authoring/burning software installed?

I use ImageBurn to burn my DVDs and have no issues. I do not have any authoring software, as I've been using MS since it was still Ulead and never had any issues.

Does the crash occur immediately when you try to open the burning process, or during an actual burn? Have you tried not putting a disc in the burner drive, and instead choose to produce an ISO file or DVD folder of the project?

The crash happens the moment the authoring program opened and the file is inserted by the program from Vs7. If i open a blank project it crashes as soon as I add the file in rhe authoring progran via inserting a new video file. I thus not even get to creating menus, choose a template or wanting to burn. Right inthe beginning when opening the auth program.

I've done some more things listed below but still experience the same issues:

I've upgraded my NVidia GTS 450 driver to the newest version
Windows 8 is up to date.
I tried option od DVD rendering for HD, Blue Ray etc but get the same crash. It's crearly the authoring program giving trouble.

When I open the DVD Authoring option and try to insert any size or type of file, the file actually loads, but the moment the load is complete, the program crashes. I've downloaded a simple free Authoring program called DVD styler (opensource) and is busy rendering the DVD to file. It does seem to work fine. I'll report when done. Obviously this does not have all the features of the (paid for) DVD authoring program of VS7.
