Alien Skin 6 (Eye Candy) Plug-ins for PSP X6

Post by LindaPSP »

I'm a newby and have been lurking for a few days. Your posts are informative and I'm glad to have found such a helpful board.

I've just upgraded to PSP X6. My Alien Skin plug-ins will not work. Alien Skin support sent me some instructions which didn't work, and PSP had no information regarding a fix.

Has anyone been able to get this combination to work? I would appreciate your suggestions, as I miss my Alien Skin plug-ins.

Are you using the 64 bit version of PSP? If so, and the Eye Candy plug-ins are 32 bit, then they will not work with X6 64 bit... Or do they not work with X6 32 bit either?

Hi Ken--I'm using the 64-bit PSP. I don't know what my Alien Skin plug-ins are (32 or 64 bit). I tried using the plugs ins on the 32 bit version of PSP X6 and they don't work there either. This is the message I receive when trying to use them:

This applies to Filter Factory plug-ins but may also solve your issue. You need to make sure you have the plug-ins listed in Steps 1 and 2.

I think EyeCandy 6 is 32bit only. 7 is 64bit and works fine in PSPX6 64bit and 32bit.

It is a huge pain, but fortunately you have both 64 and 32 bit versions installable. I would do so.

Then you can use PSPx6 32 bit for your old plugins when you think you will need them. If you are like me, you wouldn't use Eye Candy all that often and you would know ahead of time when you were going to need it.

Alien Skin Eye Candy 6 works with both my 32-bit and 64-bit versions of X6. Here's a screen shot that shows it open in the 64-bit version.
