Capture Preview In VSX7

Post by Coral »

while capturing the display picture is always 4:3. Stretched vertically with large black bars at the left and right. However when the captured movie is played it is as it should be 16:9 with the correct aspect ratio.
Is there a way I can watch the movie while it is being captured at the correct aspect ratio ?

What is the format/properties of the video you are capturing? What are you capturing it from and how are you capturing it? Unless it is DV/AVI or HDV, then these days there should be no preview at all since you should just be transferring the video from camera to computer like you would transfer other types of files from one device to another using Windows...

The device is sat tv with a 16:9 format (BBC News). Watching the picture on TV is displayed in the 16:9 format. However while capturing, the picture in the preview window of VS X7 is as I explained further up. I am using an analog capture card.

Which capture card?
Have you looked into it's settings to see if that is the problem?

The capture card is the Compro VideoMate C500. There are no setting to adjust.
In other software such as Pinnacle Studio 12.1 and Honestech VHS TO DVD the capture display is in the correct format as set in the software.
