I am currently using a core 2 duo- 32 bit processor with a 32 bit version of Windows (XP Pro).
I will be upgrading to a new Core 7- 64 bit processor, and a 64 bit OS, Windows 8.1 Pro or 7 Pro within the next several months.
My question is, I just purchased* the lastest copy of VideoStudio X7 Ultimate (download version) and the web site indicated the
product is compatible with both 32 or 64 bit systems, but when I went to download my copy, it asks if you want to download a 32 bit
or a 64 bit version.
Several Questions
1. Can I just install the 64 bit version on my 32 bit Windows system(I think I know the answer to this one), but
lose out on the benefits that the 64 bit version provides, until I upgrade the OS and CPU.
2. If not, can I install the 32 bit version on My Windows XP Pro 32 system now, using the provided key and
when I upgrade my system to the new 64 bit OS, reinstall this VideoStudio X7, using the 64 bit downloaded
version, using the same key or will they require me to purchase a new copy.
* I didn't want to upgrade the software until I upgraded my system, but I just had some difficulty
rendering some video using the VideoStudio 12 and thought, based on the comments on the web
site that I could try using an updated version of the product to solve my problem. May be not.
I apologize in advance, if your the wrong people to ask these questions to.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well you can certainly use the 32 bit version on a 64bit computer but I'm not at all sure about the other way round - maybe someone else has already tried it and can give you a definitive answer.
but why not test it before you spend any money - download the 30 day FREE trial and see if the 64 bit installs on your existing set up without problems - if it doesn't you have only lost a bit of time not money - if it does work then you know it's OK to buy the 64 bit version.

Re: Can I install 64 bit version of VideoStudio X7 on 32 bit
Brain,
Thanks, I was thinking the same thing.
One question, if I download a trial version of the 64 bit and it doesn't work, am I still able to download
a 32 bit trial version, using the same account?
I just need to finish an editing/rendering project I am doing with VideoStudio 12, which has a problem
rendering one of the disks in the project. I have never had this problem before and my only solution
at this time, is to try a newer version of VideoStudio.

Re: Can I install 64 bit version of VideoStudio X7 on 32 bit
Well thats something I have no experience of - we have only had 32 and 64 bit versions for a couple of months - I don't know if any one has tried that at all
Some users have changed back and forth between paid versions of 32 and 64 bits without problems so it may be OK - I would think though you would only get the 30 days from the first trial install

Re: Can I install 64 bit version of VideoStudio X7 on 32 bit
I would have thought your 32 bit system would refuse to install a 64 bit program. 64 bit computers are set up slightly differently in Windows. The 64 bit programs are installed in "Program Files" but 32 bit programs are installed in "Program Files (x86)". But of course, while a 32 bit system has "Program Files", that folder is designed for 32 bit programs.

Re: Can I install 64 bit version of VideoStudio X7 on 32 bit
Brian & Ken,
Thanks.
I thought so.
I will try using the 32 bit trial version to solve my current problem and install my newly
purchased 64 bit version, when I upgrade my computer and OS to a 64 bit system in several
months.
Again I appreciate all your help.
