Rotopen

Post by mwsing »

I have just installed Videostudio X7 and am trying to use Rotopen to draw a route on a map, For some reason, when I replay the clip with the route, the route starts about a centimetre (on the preview window) from where I actually started and I cannot see any reason why this should be so. I did not have this problem with Videostudio X5. Any ideas anyone?

Make sure that your map matches the project properties frame size, if your project is 1280x720, then your map should also be 1280x720. Rotopen will then follow the route correctly.

Hi guys

I am not sure that the frame size has to match in pixel dimensions, but the aspect ratio has to match,
Your project is probably 16:9, your map image should use the same ratio.
It is possible that your image is 3 x 2

Thank you both for your help. What is the best way to ensure that they have the same attributes? I tried copying the attributes from the previous clip, but that did not work. I then used a program from the web to resize the photograph so that the aspect ratio is 16x9. This seemed to work fine.

Hi

Resizing the image to use a ratio of 16:9 is the only way to make the Rotopen stay on line.
If you were to use a project having a 4:3 size then your image should also be 4:3

I read this post with interest as it mirrors the problem I have exactly even to quoting no prob with X5.I requested help in http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... 40#p295140 and part of the reply I got was “ your video is a pretty standard 16:9 format - but your image is almost square.
I would just crop the image to a 16:9 ratio in Paint Shop Pro - something like 775 x 436 pixels before putting it into Video Studio” Bearing in mind what has been said here and doing the above cropping did not solve my problem, can any one advise me further please

I used "Resize your image on line" and resized my image to 595x335. This resolved the problem for me.
