No audio

I am converting VHS tapes to digital files using an ADS converter . Process seems to work fine and I can capture as an mpeg2 file with video and audio. However when I drag and drop file to the video line in VSp version 7 and look at the properties of the file under audio it says format:none

if I convert file to a avi it works fine.

Any suggestions?

problem solved. I was apparently using a crippled version of videostudio 7 SE which did not support the audio for mpeg 1 and 2. I upgraded to version 8 and I am now a happy man
