newbie with problems

Post by Kevin L »

Shouldn't Svc Pack 1 & 2 be downloadable through Firefox? They aren't on mine. I do not have IE.
After loading an image into the workspace, some of the buttons and features get energized ( turn black for use) but not all. Some stay greyed out, and stops me from doing what I need to do. Where does one go, other than here, for Help with features and buttons referred to in directions, but not visible or locatable? My learning curve seems to be a closed circle. The User Guide is very limited.

Downloaded mine fine on Firefox. Hard to know what the problem is based on your description (e.g., what buttons are greyed out etc.) but it worked fine for me. I think some folks here are very talented with help if you describe the problem well, plus I often buy the most recent book about how to work with PSP (but I learn pretty well from reading.)

I had the same problem with SP2 greying out some of my buttons. The only fix I found was to uninstall, reinstall, and not install the updates.

Thanks for your replies. I also got a Corel employee to offer me one free session with an advanced support group, but the first thing that link brought was for me to download an enabling program called CITRIX. Evidently it is needed to talk to them. My computer could not download that either. Today is a new day - gonna keep on swinging at this til i get it solved.

The greying out of many commands, even after an image is loaded into theworkspace, is another, more serious problem. The answer is probably simple, but-tada-well hidden. Thanks again.

Alas - the Corel support staff was not an option, due to my computer and some really vicious malware. Anyway, I still am faced with the impasse of the greyed out commands, even with an image on the workspace. Anyone who can help with that would be saints in my eyes now. Thanks. All I want to do is put a rectangular picture into a round shape - I think I know the steps, if the effing commands weren't greyed out.

You are still very vague in what is the problem. You state in generalities that many commands are greyed out without any indication which ones are the problems.
Can you do a screen capture of the areas you are concerned with (crop them) so we can see clearly rather than showing only the whole work space.

Also list / describe what steps you are trying to do and with what sort of images. Unless we can attempt to duplicate what you are trying to do we cannot give targetted suggestions.

Maybe you should visit a Security Forum like Bleeping Computer first to get the malware remedied.
