ASP2 cannot install on Win 8.1 64bit

Post by asp2win »

When trying to upgrade from ASP to ASP2 I cannot install the newly bought AfterShotPro2_2.0.0.133_install_64bit.exe
Neither as normal user nor as admin.
  • Bibble and ASP 1 are running without problems.
  • I can start the installer exe
  • can choose the installation directory (default path and custom one tested)
  • Setup-Status stays at 0%
  • Installer cannot be cancelled. Runs until reboot.
Any hints - except refund?

Edit:
-Win 8.1 german
-tested 32bit-Installer without success
-disabled antivirus - no success also

Hi, I'm Joseph who ASP Product Manager. I have interest with any error message you got or just saw the install process isn't moving...A quick idea from my mind is going to download ASP2 and install it again since your situation sounds like is more due to download file isn't completely...Give it a trying and let me know if it can fix your problem.

Cheers

Hello Joseph

thank you for your answer but that did not help. I tried reloading the installer three times (with different browsers at each time - Firefox, Chrome, IE) but all the files were identical.
Also I tried to download and install the 32bit version.
An set UAC to prompt always.
Ran as administrator.

=> No success. No error message/number on screen.

Tried to install it using safe mode of Windows. Nada.

But magically it installed right now. The only thing that changed from my side of view is that I installed some other software also (that one without problems). So I suspect that ASP2 is relying on some file/dll/registry information that is not available on a fresh Window 8.1 system. (Even though I had Bibble and ASP 1 installed already).

Maybe you can use this information for an upcoming version of ASP 2.
