Problems cutting and pasting colour balance
Hi I have just upgraded to vrs2 and seem to be having difficulty with my presets. I have one set up which has a number of functions which work great apart from White Balance. On the original template white balance is set to As shot yet when I apply it it keeps changing it to custome.
I have tried deleting the preset and re writing but no matter what I seem to do - leave it on as shot or leave the box for colour balance unticked it still seems to change it.
Hope my rambling makes sense.
Any ideas?

Re: Problems cutting and pasting colour balance
There is a slight logic problem with copying AS-Shot WB.
If the As-Shot flag is set, the actual value will not be used but only the flag that AS-Shot should be used, so the actual values will always be read from the raw file, not the source image.
So to actually copy the values from As-Shot WB to another image one needs to switch to custom, then the actual values can be really copied.
From your description it sounds like they started to address that problem (no time to verify right now).
cheers

Every image I go to I have to rest the white balance to as shot. Doubling my work time!

Why? You must have done something wrong initially to get into that state...Jord wrote:Every image I go to I have to rest the white balance to as shot. Doubling my work time!

Re: Problems cutting and pasting colour balance
Not at all!! I open the folder with the weekend wedding and applied the pre set settings I always apply which is to leave WB as shot yet on every image the colour balance has changed. So as I go through each image I have to revert it back.
I'm a long term user not a newbie and have used the same procedure since Bibble times.

Your preset is broken. Remove all the WB stuff from it as it has no use anyway.
If you want to copy WB settings have a close look at copy sets. See attachment.

Re: Problems cutting and pasting colour balance
Maybe I'm not explaining it properly
My Preset has no white balance setting it just to leave as shot.
Prior to your suggestion I have deleted the Preset and re done it in multiple variations. Some with WB unticked some with it ticked with the source photo is set to as shot. No matter what I seem to do it alters the white balance of all the images selected. I have even gone in and stripped the NEFs of the xmp files to start again from fresh. Same issue. Like I say the same procedure in Aftershot 1 produces the desired result. I've over a 1000 images to process so I think I'll just go back to Vrs 1. Frustrating to say the least.
All I basically want to do is have my preset with sharpening/Contrast/Auto Level applied to the 1000 or so photos I'm editing. I'll tweak any white balance issues on an individual image basis. Even if I just copy the settings (contl C) on an individual image basis when it is set to as shot it will add that photos WB to the next image whereas in the past it would be as shot.
Have I failed to notice something in the preferences?
In summary Vrs 2 seems to copy the WB from an image even if the field is set to As shot in WB. If this is a batch or an individual image.

Here you go. I have tried both unticking WB and ticking it when the source is set to as shot.

Re: Problems cutting and pasting colour balance
That preset does not change anything regarding the WB, it has no WB settings in it at all.
So if your actual, WB values change, then something else is broken.
No matter what I do, I can not get this preset to change anything regarding WB on my box (D70 or D700 files).
But it has auto-levels active, which does adjust each image individually. That in my eyes is always risky....

Re: Problems cutting and pasting colour balance
It changes WB on my computer - I can see the numbers change!! (I am really not that stupid.....) I know it should not change WB that is my entire point...... Even just cutting and pasting settings is altering the WB. Like I say that preset on version one works as I expect it to please don't tell me it the auto levels or something it is the WB changing.
D4 and D700 files.
And it works fine on Version 1. I'm back on that now with no issues.

This is looking weirder every minute.....
Are you using a hotkey for the preset?
Or is there a duplicate preset hidden somewhere that gets used?
cheers

Re: Problems cutting and pasting colour balance
No not using a hotkey. I don't think the is a duplicate, I can change lots of criteria on a preset and all works fine except wb. I have tried deleting and rewriting every time the WB is affected. Even copy and pasting from one image with WB set to as shot alters the WB in the next image to the exact numerical wb figure. Like I say version 1 is fine.

Re: Problems cutting and pasting colour balance
I am using a D700 as well, so I really wonder what the trigger is for this.
Sounds seriously broken, but why does it show up on your box and not on mine?

No idea - are you on Windows 64bit?
