ProDAD Rotopen and Script Problems: 32 bit VSX7

Post by bjtap »

Problem:
1) I placed a map (tried both bitmap and tiff) in the time line and it appears in the preview window.
2) I select FX and choose proDad from drop down list.
3) I click on rotopen and the preview windows shows the airplane.
4) I drag the rotopen to the timeline map and now the airplane appears over the map.
5) I double click the map on the timeline to get to attribute so I can customize filter. (Rotopen shows in list).
6) I select customize filter, an 'H' icon appears briefly but the window to customize never opens. Same happens with script. The customize window does not open. (Mercalli 2.0 and Vitascene 2.0 work fine).

7. FYI: I can play the 'airplane' over the map... I just cannot customize the filter.
8. FYI: When I go to windows task manager processes, I can see Corel VideoStudio running (vstudio.exe *32) but I see nothing that indicates prodad or rotopen.
9. FYI: if I minimize the VS7 window the "H" icon that briefly flashed (no. 6) shows on my desktop. Right clicking or single or double left clicking does nothing... it is 'just there'. It disappears only when I shut down VSX7.

Am I not understanding how these two fx work? Shouldn't a screen appear that allows me to customize the route and/or script?
Thanks,
Barry

Hi Barry,

I am also using the 32 bit version (until such time as 64 bit plugins are available) but using JPEG images I have no issue with Rotopen or Script, I can select and customize and the filters works correctly. Some plugins do have issues if your graphics card drivers are not up to date, I have had major issues with New Blue in the past, solely because of outdated drivers.
So first check the you have the latest drivers installed, then report back.

Robert,
Thanks for your reply.
I updated the driver (a new one was made available yesterday (5/26/2014). Made no difference.
I converted one of the files to jpeg. Made no difference.
Bottom line: Rotopen and Script do not work for me.
I am open to other suggestions.
Thanks,
Barry

Hi Barry

Yes you should get a pop up window allowing you to customise / set the effect, a similar screen for any customisations except these fill the screen.

I see the “ H” symbol for a few seconds then the window appears, second attempt to open was much quicker.

I don’t know why your version is not working, I am sure when I trailed the 32 bit version things were ok. I have no idea where that No.6 came from nor as far as I know been mentioned before???

To run Video Studio can you right click the desktop icon and Run As Administrator, you should not have to do this but worth a try.

Thanks lata,
This time I waited about ten minutes for the window to rotopen to open. It didn't.

Hi Barry,

I really sympathize with your dilemma, With VSX6 I could not get Vitascene to work, neither Corel or proDAD could offer a solution, I did resolve the issue myself in the end through a complicated process of downloading the full version of Vitascene from proDAD, then copying the assets into the Corel version, then reinstalling the bonus pack over the top.

Your computer is very similar to mine (I assume you have an HP) yet I have no issue with any of the proDAD filters with VSX7 32 bit, so why these filters don't work for you is a mystery and we cannot offer a solution. You could try uninstalling the bonus pack and then reinstall, if necessary download the bonus pack again, just in case your copy is corrupted.

If you are still within your warranty period you could contact Corel Technical Support, they will endeavor to help as best they can, also contact proDAD support for assistance.

Hi Barry

Given that Robert has been through Corel and they could not cure the problem with his X6 version I guess we are not gonna do much better but we can try.
I am looking around my pc in the attempt to id any options that may cause the filter to stall, not work?

You may already have tried this………..
Can you reset the program by re-naming the folder 17.0

This folder may be hidden by your operating system, go to any folders menu bar – Tools – Folder Options – View – set “Show Hidden Files and Folders.

Then go to
C:\Users\User Name\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro\17.0

Rename the folder 17.0 to “17.0Copy”

A new 17.0 will be created when you start Video Studio, this will affect the library, but you can always revert back to the original 17.0 folder.

-----------------------------------------------------------
The Script file should be here for X7

C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Pro X7\vft_plug
Called
(proDADScript40Corel4.vft)

Right click on this file and choose properties, from the Details tab does it show the owner as Administrator?

Again, thanks to all.

lata: I did everything you suggested with no satisfaction. I also checked proDADScript40Corel4.vft and they are owned as administrators.

Robertoz: I did redownload the 'bonus pack again' and that did not change anything. I may ask you to explain more fully your 'complicated process' of how you corrected the issue.

I contacted prodad... so far no response.

I contacted corel and they sent me an email with a whole lot of things to try (services, reinstalls, cleanup, updates etc.) and none of that worked. (Took a couple of hours to follow steps... I can make another post with the steps corel suggested if anyone thinks that might be useful). I have followed-up with support letting them know their suggestions did not work... I will see what their reply is.

I am afraid that lata may be right that corel may not be able to correct the issue. I also confirmed that the issue did and still exists in VSX6, at least for me.
