Random switch of Aspect Ratio in MF4

I have been having a weird problem with the retail version of MF4. I never had any issues at all with the trial version. I use my dvd recorder to convert my mini-DV tapes to standard DVD's. I then import that into MF4 and edit it. I also have the 'do not convert compliant dvd/mpeg' set. All the preview's etc look fine all are the correct aspect ratio. After I create a DVD I find that the 2nd chapter onwards flips to 16:9 (although the sources are all 4:3). Playing through the DVD menu all other titles stay 16:9. If I play the VOB's directly I see that the file starts out in 16:9 and about 3 seconds into the file it switches to 4:3.

Anyone have any ideas why this might be happening? I even reinstalled my OS and all my SW (win xp sp2) and the problem still exists.

try reinstalling the software and apply the latest patch (4.01). make sure the aspect ratio is set to 4:3 under the project settings.
