Does AF have a Before/After view, and what is its shortcut?

Not directly.
Indirectly you could Use CTRL-R and then toggle back with CTRL-Z
Or create a version and then reset that with CTRL-R and view it in multiview mode.

Yes there is!
I am a recent convert to ASP2 - what a great program and today asked myself this very question 'How do I see what the photo was like before I started to tinker with it?'
Use the History view - CTRL+SHIFT+H
Click on Initial settings to see the original photo and click on any of the others listed to see how the changes you used were applied
Click the bottom of the list ie last change to see the latest view
If you are using the File view the history is not saved from this session - use the Library to save History with the photo.
