Any Linux 64bit ASP2 successfully run....?
If so, I would really like to know what your configuration is, what distribution, kernel version and window manager to narrow down the problem of not being able to start and run ASP2 64bit Linux.
thanks,

Re: Any Linux 64bit ASP2 successfully run....?
Xubuntu 14.04 64bit on a Lenovo Thinkpad with a quad i7.
But why bother with 64bit? Install 32bit where currently most plugins are available in contrast to 64bit.
Nothing special. Even the silly Nvidia card works at lower strength level with OpenCL. Have not tested the speed though, with AS1 it was slower than CPU only.
If you start form the terminal, what are the last lines?
What distro are you using?
cheers

Re: Any Linux 64bit ASP2 successfully run....?
I'm using Debian 7 Wheezy with all current updates.
A terminal run shows a segfault after trying to start the catalog manager.
dmesg shows the error to be libQtSql.so.4.8.2 . ASP2 loads libQtSql.so.4.7.3
in its lib directory so the problem is/was libQt version 4.8.2.
Works fine after pointing the program to the earlier libs that came with ASP.
My suggestion would be to link to the later directories if possible.
What version of libQt is the Ubuntu dist using?

Re: Any Linux 64bit ASP2 successfully run....?
Ubuntu ships 4.8.5.
But the AfterShotpro2 setup script handles the libpath appropriately, so I wonder what is going on on your side.

Evidently nothing is out of the ordinary. I found the startup script you suggested in /usr/bin and it works perfectly.afx wrote:Ubuntu ships 4.8.5.

Re: Any Linux 64bit ASP2 successfully run....?
Got it running after some inital hiccups (export didn't work). Now, if only the plugins would be 64 compatible: as it is now, it's unusable for production purposes.

Re: Any Linux 64bit ASP2 successfully run....?
Hello,
i succeed to install it on Debian Wheezy (7.x) 64bit out of the box. I am using also NVIDIA proprietary drivers.
Nevertheless it crash all the time when I am using the "Perfectly Clear Noise removal" feature.
[EDIT] : I succeed to install out of the box also ASP2 32bit on my debian system.

Re: Any Linux 64bit ASP2 successfully run....?
I'm using it on Linux Mint 14 64bit and until now no problems. Except that I do not use the red X button in the top right corner to close the program, otherwise the next time it will present me with a blank screen and I have to close it again by using the quit button in the file menu. After that it says there was a fatal error and asks me to restore settings.
Edit: I just upgraded/new install with Linux Mint 17 64 bit and no problems, except that the window of ASP has nog rounded border like the other programs.

Re: Any Linux 64bit ASP2 successfully run....?
The startup script is only partially successful for me. Yes, it sets LD_LIBRARY_PATH to include "/opt/AfterShotPro2(64-bit)/lib", which allows ASP2 to run. However, this environment variable is not unset when other programs are run. Eg post processing batch output fails, and is definitely for this reason. I haven't yet verified the cause, but running an external editor, or firing up a browser for the help pages also fail, and I expect it's probably for the same reason.

Works well with Ubunut 14.04 on HP Pavilion g series. Just no 64bit pluggins yet.
Thanks.

Re: Any Linux 64bit ASP2 successfully run....?
OK, then.
That was v2.0.0.133.
v2.0.1.5 update also works 32/64bit on Debian stable.
How about v2.0.2.10? 32 bit works on Debian stable (Wheezy) but not amd64. Some sort of libc version mismatch.
I posted more info in the 'bugs' section.

Re: Any Linux 64bit ASP2 successfully run....?
Did you try the ASP2_LinuxDEB64_Patch01.deb which was posted under the patches and update section at the same time the 2.0.2.10 was released? I didn't have any problems with Ubuntu so didn't install the Patch01.deb. Looking at the contents of the patch lists libs. You might want to give it a try.
Thanks.

Re: Any Linux 64bit ASP2 successfully run....?
Thanks for that info. I never saw that patch. Looking now. Results soon.
Maybe not soon enough. Can't find that file but there is an update link that dead-ends.
Don't have the time for the endless loop support right now. I'll investigate some other time.
