I'm really happy to see that the good spirit is back into the development. AfterShot Pro is in many ways a better product than it's competition, but on other fields there is good room for improvements. If you continue to use this community as a resource, I'm sure the product will be greatly improved. Satisfied and dedicated customers is the best marketing you will ever get. Its a win-win scenario. I'll definately hang in for the ride..!!!Greg Wood wrote:Arfinn - thanks for your note. Upon stepping into this role, it became quickly apparent that this is more a community than it is a 'product' to be managed. I'm going to try and keep that sense of community going. Lots of work to do, I hope you'll hang in for the ride. Thanks!

+1 to what Arnfinn said. But please be careful not to be just another talking head following in the footsteps of Greg Lee, Rick Champagne, and I cant remember ....

I have the Topaz bundle myself. Those and others are either Photoshop compatible plugins or standalone applications. AfterShot is non-destructive and they are not compatible with the AfterShot plugin architecture.imopen wrote:This is my wishlist / tips about future development, in order of importance:
- Better plug-in support, it would be terrific to have topazlabs plugin in ASP (http://www.topazlabs.com/)
The workaround would be to export a copy into tiff and use the necessary plugins on that before having it back into the AfterShot workflow.

Thank you for the Update Greg Wood,
I'm happy to see an update although it is one with mostly minor changes (from a user perspective)
I'm not so happy to see the upgrade price €50 euro. It is way to much for what it is especially considering the lack of updates we received for version one.
Now I would be willing to belief that Corel really is going to update ASP2 more that it did for version one but my trust is not so big I'm willing to put up €50 euros. This because I have been burnt by Corel before. Slash the upgrade price to 30€ and I will bite....,

My sentiments are the same, ASP 1.x.x does all that I need at present and I cannot see that this is really a Version 2 of ASP, rather a rebranding exercise with a few minor changes thrown in.
Only time will tell if these are improvements, and until essential plugins are updated it will not be possible to carry out any meaningful tests.
Certainly not worth the exorbitant upgrade price currently being asked.
R.

Truer words were never spoken.Hobgoblin wrote:Certainly not worth the exorbitant upgrade price currently being asked.
ASP2 is more like ASP 1.3 (or at best 1.5), releasing it as a major revision is nothing but a transparent cash grab.
I am in the fortunate position of not needing the upgrade, so unless Corel rethinks it's pricing for those of us that stuck it out, I will be sticking with v1.1 and exploring alternatives at my leisure.

Thanks Greg.
I hope that our testing has been worthwhile.
The testing has been very useful and the interface while looking essentially the same does have many tweaks and cleanups.
I look forward to the product having and extended life.

Support for large TIFFs is very good to have.
Certainly for me it is great to have the D600 RAW support fixed so I no longer have the right side line of magenta pixels.
Future enhancements for the next update are:
Only disappointment is that there is no support (yet) for the Fuji X-Trans sensors in Fuji XT1, XE1, XPro1, XE2, X100S, XA1, and XM1.
Please keep the new camera RAW support coming as this is a critical item.

I'm liking it so far. Expect 52 of my francs in a week or two
Is this the wrong place to ask for better colour management in PaintShop Pro?

Re: Introducing AfterShot Pro 2 and Greg Wood, product manag
With the long period with no updates (and generally poor communication about what was going on and that not really instilling confidence in the future of the product) I put effort into trying alternatives on Linux. Interestingly it's about a year since I started trying Darktable as an alternative. For a while I used it for some photos with still using ASP for others. Then since Darktable's release candidate for 1.4 gained regional adjustments about 6 months ago I just stopped using ASP altogether - I'm really happy with darktable (there are a couple of UI areas where I preferred the way ASP presented the feature, but I'm getting great results with Darktable). While I'm sure there's been a chunk of work behind the scenes with this ASP update it doesn't sound like it's going to change much from my perspective as a user and coupled with the way it's languished for so long with poor communication and also the rather pitiful discount to upgrade I'm afraid it's just not at all compelling to me to fork out for an upgrade at this time.

Seriously? This catastrophe was tested?jknights wrote:I hope that our testing has been worthwhile.
Tested about as well as Bibble and ASP 1 were tested, obviously - and, unbelievably, by the same people responsible for signing off those abortions.
So what do we get from ASP 2?
The same IQ-screwing dark-to-light transitions foul-up that was being complained about with Bibble;

More noise and ugly artefacts from the new NR than I'd have believed possible from a 1600 ISO file;

And - a new bug to me - glaringly obvious "tiling" artefacts.

The same old incompetent beta-testing, resulting in the same old incompetent software.
Well done, Corel. I found these three bugs in the first two files I converted!

VoE your report of problems is not very helpful.
What make and model of camera?
Please can you submit a bug report via the Support link.
If there was ever a perfect piece of software then the reporter is a liar!!
I see you are using Windows which means that you are probably more used to bugs and system crashes, even though Windows 7 is the best offering from Microsoft since XP Pro. Sorry cant resist, I used to be a Microsoft partner

So after all your complaints and adverse comments on here in the last year or so as different users about the programme KEITH - you still tested the new version, suggests that deep down you really really love AfterShot Pro.Voiceofexperience wrote:
