Photo Library -- how to return to where I left off?

Post by coreldb »

Hi All! My question: I am using Video Studio Pro X4.... I am doing a production with travel photos, several hundred. After I add a photo to my project, then add in text, transitions, etc. I return to the library to add the next photo -- at this point it is necessary to scroll back down to where I left off [which is a lot of scrolling with so many pics!] Is there a way to return to the place where I left off without needing to scroll? Why doesn't the photo library "stay" at the photo I had just added to my production??? Any help would be appreciated, since the scrolling is such a cumbersome task! db

Although I don't have X4 installed on any of my computers any longer, I am pretty sure more recent versions react the same way as X4 in the situation you describe. Have a look at the photo I attached (taken from X6 but much the same in this regard as X4). With all your photos in the timeline, you just go into Project mode by clicking on "Project" below the preview screen (red arrow to the left) and then click on that sideways triangle/flat line button (red arrow to the right). That will take you directly to the last photo currently in the project with no scrolling necessary.

Alternatively, if you have the photos you want to insert already stored in the library window to the right of the preview screen, then just right click and choose 'Insert to > Video Track' and it will automatically go to the very end of the timeline ... Mind you, I am not sure that this function existed in X4...

I think Ken has mis-understood your question - I think you mean the library pane which by default is in the top right corner of your screen - and the bad news there is that I have never found a way of locking that in position,

The only option I know is to insert all your photos to the timeline in one go by selecting them all using the standard Windows "left click >>>> shift+left click" that way you get them all at once then work along the timeline editing them

Thanks, guys... Yes, Brian, that's what I meant (& apologies, Ken for not being clear enough!) The problem I'm having is IN THE PHOTO LIBRARY itself -- I drag a photo to my timeline, then tweak it (position, size, transitions, etc.) THEN I go back to the library and darn, but it shows the first row of pictures again, even though the photo I had just inserted is nearer to the bottom of the library (like 30-40 rows down or whatever). Again, makes for a very cumbersome process & I was wondering if any of you brilliant, more experienced users knew of another way of doing things to avoid needing to do all that scrolling!!! Any other ideas or workarounds would be appreciated! Thanks.

Well as I said above why not insert all photos to the timeline at once - and then work your way along the timeline adjusting, tweaking adding transitions etc as you go.

An alternative would be to add them all to an overlay track and slide them up into the top track as needed /

Thanks... I'm also thinking maybe I could try dividing the pics into more photo folders so there aren't as many rows of photos showing at once, tho' if I remember correctly, there's a limit to the number of folders you can create.

If you use the slider up in the top right corner of the photo library you can make the thumbnails much smaller - thus showing more of them at one time

I can see 45 images at a time if I do that - would reduce the number of libraries required.

You must have good eyes, Brian!!! I have enough trouble seeing them at the largest setting! Thanks again!
