Re: Normal Map Generator?
I don't use any inside of PSP itself, no. Are you talking about a specific plugin? Or are you just looking for one? And, other than to avoid using a second program in the pipeline is there a reason to use PSP to generate bump maps? Or would something like MaPZone Editor from Allegorithmic be what you're looking for?

Re: Normal Map Generator?
Understood. I work in Video and have occasions to create backgrounds from textures that might reflect a client's "style". I can export still images either from still camera shoots OR captured directly from the Video and pipe THAT into PSP for work. Now, I'm using a Text Titler from NewBlue TypePro3 [NBTP3]- that now allows for 3D Spectral/Light effects to drift over the Text, thus forming a great organic "look" . . OK, producing a Normal Map, of a Texture, allows NewBlue to make use of it. But it HAS to be a specific generated Normal Map "type" to be able to be made use of in NBTP3.LeviFiction wrote:I don't use any inside of PSP itself, no.
So, to recap my "proposed" Workflow using the option to create a Normal Map:
1/- SONY Vegas Pro > Generate a Graphic from a Still/Video of a Texture/Face/Logo
2/- Export to PSP ( there's a great script for this - dead easy)
3/- Work on the Graphic to create a Normal Map graphic
4/- Save and the Normal Mapped Graphic appears back in SONY Vegas Pro as a "TAKE2" Event
5/- Use this as a ready to go Background in NewBlue Titler Pro
Specific? No. I'm new to using a Normal Map and was asking to garner ideas as to what to use within PSP. Am I "looking for one"? Yes, but it being dependent on what "others" have used successfully within PSP. Eh? Does PSP do it anyway??LeviFiction wrote: Are you talking about a specific plugin? Or are you just looking for one?
This is what I am looking to generate:-

If this can appear in PSP, then maybe.LeviFiction wrote: Or would something like MaPZone Editor from Allegorithmic be what you're looking for?
LF, thanks for your interest in this.

Re: Normal Map Generator?
No, the MaP editor will not open inside of PSP.
If it has to be inside of PSP then....
Well, NVidia has a Normal Map plugin for PSP. Only the 32-bit version seems to work, so if using PSPX6 you'll need to make sure you're using the 32-bit version. Anything older will always be the 32-bit version.

Re: Normal Map Generator?
Thanks LF.
I too saw that nVidia thing.
I think I need to get back to NewBlue to get the exact file generation requirements for the s/w to have it be seen/work.
Again, many thanks for your feedback,

Re: Normal Map Generator?
This is the one that's I've been told will allow Import of the Normal Map Output into Vegas NBTP3:
"ShaderMap™ converts existing maps to different formats. It also generates new maps from scratch. Easily tweak settings and preview changes in real-time." Looks good!
