Hi everyone, I am planning on entering the 48 hour film festival in July and I'm a bit confused about how to translate the contest's requirements to videostudio ultimate x4. This is what they want:
(preferred) a self-contained SD Quicktime file with no proprietary codecs on either:
- data DVD
- USB flash drive
*playable DVD
I am filming using a canon t3i.
I am under the impression that VS cannot export in quicktime. If that's the case, is there another way to convert it to comply with the rules? Or is VS not usable for this project.
If anyone has used VS successfully for this contest I'd love to hear how you did it. It seems most of the teams use premiere or final cut which are both over my head in cost and ability.
Thanks for any help
Mike Wagner

Of course VideoStudio is useable for this project - just export in any of the many formats which VideoStudio has available and use any of the few hundred free video converters available to convert that to meet their requirements.

Re: 48 hour film project
Thanks for the reassurance! I didn't want to have to abandon VS for something a lot more complicated. I made that mistake with music production software, and I barely touch it now due to the lack of having a PhD.
Thanks

Hi
Do a test recording, 7 minutes, then create a movie using Video Studio.
At least you will have tested the process before doing the competition.

Re: 48 hour film project
I just wanted to follow up on this. I did the 48 this past weekend and had my screening in the theatre last night. My film looked just as good as the people using fcp or premiere. I did have to use a free converter to convert it to h.264 as suggested but everything worked great. The project forced me to delve deeper into the feature set of vs and I must say it's a pretty powerful app for the money. Thanks again!
