Sharpening with Canon 5D MK III and 6D

Post by imopen »

Hi everybody,
I've used with satisfaction Aftershot for years with my Canon 5D (classic) and my wife's Canon 600D.
Recently we upgraded both cameras, switching to 5D MK III and 6D.
We are unsatisfied with sharpening behaviour of Aftershot with these new cameras, while operating with the program the image seems sharped when we export on JPG the sharpening seems to be loosed, the files exported are very flat. :|

I've tried even to use max sharpening as possible and I also tried to flag and use "Output sharpening" on Post Processing tab on the batch output, but the images are still unsharped.

Anybody of you use with satisfaction Aftershot on the above mentioned cameras?
Do you have some tips about sharpening?

To be complete: I use Aftershot on Ubuntu, my wife on Mac, on both platforms we have the same results.

Thanks in advance,
imopen

Perhaps your problem will be resolved with AfterShot Pro 2, scheduled for release this week.

Have you tried Wavelet Sharpen? It often gives better results anyway.

Indeed ! I use WS instead of the built-in sharpening tool. I'm quite happy with my 5D mk III pictures this way.
Darktable 3. Bye bye aftershot.

Thank you guys, I've given a try to Wavelet Sharpen plugin and I'm quite happy :) , the images are now sharped!

Even if I've to understand what all the options do, I found the topic on plugin sub forums, I'm going to study it
