Semantics aside, intentionally obfuscating/concealing data that has no good reason to be encrypted/encoded is just plain stupid.definition wrote: en·crypt: conceal data in (something) by converting it into a code.
It leaves open possibility for mistakes the the decryption/decoding process that is now a "hack" built in to the RAW tool because the camera manufacturer hasn't properly documented it.
