Best HD rendering format for Windows XP

Post by aussiejoe »

I usually render to full HD MPEG4 which plays in media player on Windows 7

I have to produce a video for a corporate cutomer who uses XP and they can't play MPEG4 videos (no codecs and they wont update), but they want full HD

Would WMV at 1920x1080 be the best option?
cheers

Depends on whether they have that codec!!

Also, if they are running XP, it is unlikely the pc will have the power to play an HD video.

Ask them what HD movies they can play, what resolution they are and what codec is used to make that video.

WMV-HD works. Depending on their CPU and GPU, you might have to drop from 1920x1080 to 1280x720p for seamless playback. Other option would be to create a high bitrate MPEG-1 file.

Hope this helps,
