MTS file crashes VS: Solution
Hi All,
This is covered in some areas here but not in this way. I'm trying the Trial version on X7 Pro and came across this anomaly that I can't figure out. I have a .mts file from my Canon HD camera that crashes X7 when I import it. It will import m2ts just fine but not the mts file from camera. I figured out from error logs that its the igdumdim64.dll file of the Intel driver. I'm able to rename this file(temporarily) and then import it and use it. I thought if I then take the file and share it as a AVC file within the program it would then take it. Not the case. As soon as I re-enable the Intel driver it crashes even with the H.264 file X7 created. Funny thing about it is with it enabled, Fast Flix can open it and it works fine but it won't open it if it's disabled. The exact opposite of full editor. Just for fun I tried opening it in Fast Flix and the switching to full editor and again it crashes. I've checked graphics driver and it won't let me update saying it is the current driver. I've checked the version number of igdumdim64.dll and there appears to be a newer version if I search for it but it's only available on secondary websites and I'm hesitant to download it from them and use it.
Thanks

Re: mts file and Intel igdumdim64.dll file
Have you tried just changing the extension of your video file from .mts to .m2ts

Re: mts file and Intel igdumdim64.dll file
Does your Canon have an accompanying disc with a limited editing program on it, or which at least could be used to transfer the video from camera to computer? If so, you might find that in that transfer the .mts becomes .m2ts and might thus be usable...

Re: mts file and Intel igdumdim64.dll file
Sure, first thing I tried. My Canon uses a sd card and I simple copy it to disk. The most troubling part for me is the file can be imported when I disable igdumdim64.dll and I can output a h.264 file from X7 but that file then causes X7 to crash if I try to import it then. Other ideas would be appreciated. I have Power Director 12 and it imports it fine. So does Pinnacle Studio 12.
Re: mts file and Intel igdumdim64.dll file
I should mention also that this file imports just fine to another computer in X7. It is a ATI graphics card thou.

Re: mts file and Intel igdumdim64.dll file
Many users experienced this problem with the Intel graphics driver. Instead of trying to update it through Windows, update it through Intel's website. After having installed that particular driver, you will be able to import mts files without Video Studio crashing anymore.
This is Intel's website : http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect/graphics . The new driver should be ver. 10.18.10.3496 or later.

Re: mts file and Intel igdumdim64.dll file
There have been many posts about this problem. I think this issue deserves a sticky post to avoid the many users who become disenchanted with this program and waste so much time. The title of the sticky should be something like mts files crash solution: update intel graphics file, or something like that... Al

Re: mts file and Intel igdumdim64.dll file
Thanks,
First thing I tried but I got a warning message that the driver had not been validated. Contact manufacturer for correct driver. I'll bypass that and install it anyway and see if it fixes it.

Re: MTS file crashes VS: Solution
I have the same problem with Tsmuxer. Just do as Brian Cee suggests: change to m2ts

Re: MTS file crashes VS: Solution
I experienced a problem which I think has the same origins: A current project using .MTS files simply refuses to accept 4 clips from the batch off my Canon Legria HF G30. These same files play happily using Windows video player and others but I cannot get them accepted into VS. All other files play normally in VS X9 but I get a message to say these (4) files are unknown format, computer does not have enough memory or the file is copyright protected. I changed the file type name to .M2TS with no benefit - same outcome, so I just gave up and have not tried to use these files yet they are "part of the project story". Memory space is not an issue and as for copyright - I took the video myself and have no idea how to copyright protect anything. Your thoughts are appreciated. Regards Skipper

Re: MTS file crashes VS: Solution
Hi, is this the first time you try to get G30 clips into X9? You can upload a short G30 clip that you tested negative for us to try.

Re: MTS file crashes VS: Solution
Asik1 I am assuming you refer to my remarks (Skipper) The problem existed in VS X8 even when I was still using Win 7 so not new, but still there in X9 with operating system now Win 10. An interesting side effect of trying these same 4 clips in Mercalli V4 is that they could then be loaded into VS X9. I suspect any proper file altering program may have similar results? However just a simple change to the file name did not "disguise" the problem sufficiently to make them acceptable to VS X9. Skipper

Re: MTS file crashes VS: Solution
Been having problems with Video studio for months now with files taken from my SONY HD that are 50 frames a second and MTS...Downloading and updating all drivers as mentioned above, REALLY hope this does the trick as I have project deadlines and ready to punch a wall with all the crashes! *STAY CALM BOY*

Re: MTS file crashes VS: Solution
Anyone actually found suitable solution to this? Months later this is still happening and I'm ready to buy a different editors, as nothing I've tried has fixed this problem!
Real shame, as I've used this editor since 2007!
