PSP X6 64-bit: No scanner driver

Post by DaveG74 »

I purchased Paint Shop Pro X6 last week and I'm enjoying it so far. However, much to my frustration, X6 cannot find the scanner driver for my Canon MG6320. Having already done a Google search, I discovered that I require a 64-bit TWAIN driver for my multifunction printer.

I am current on my drivers (one which is supposedly 64-bit), but Paint Shop Pro still doesn't pick it up.

I contacted Canon late last week and I'm still awaiting a response. I hate to have to install the 32-bit version just for the privilege of scanning from the software. And I don't want to have to use up another activation.

Has anyone heard anything about a fix for this? I would love to be able to scan from the software (just like I was able to in PSP X1) rather than using the button on my printer all the time. Thanks in advance...

You can still use WIA Import -> From Scanner or Camera.
.
I have not heard anything about PSP fixing the problem with TWAIN drivers, but I do have a workaround. This workaround, however, requires that we verify your drivers are 64-bit

First make sure that your drivers can be seen by 64-bit TWAIN.

Download and install Twacker_64.msi http://www.twain.org/scannerserviceprov ... tools.html

If Twacker can see your scanner, then yes it is indeed 64-bit and not just 64-bit compatible. If it can't, then there's no way PSP can see it.

The work around is to use VueScan and the plugin that comes with it. If you don't mind spending more money VueScanner is a universal software scan software that comes with a special plugin This plugin is designed for 64-bit Photoshop but works with PSP. This plugin calls VueScan and VueScan talks to your scanner.

Thanks for the prompt response! But -- I'm sorry, you lost me.

The link you just posted -- what do I download and how do I use this? Please walk me through if you wouldn't mind.

I had initially installed only the 64-bit application, but I broke down and installed the 32-bit application as well. It's just I want the in-house scanning ability and I don't like the fact that the 64-bit version doesn't have that. I don't do any work that involves 64-bit processing anyway.

In addition, the E-mail I sent to Canon two weeks ago was unanswered. So they either scoffed at it, are incompetent or just plain didn't feel it was important enough to address. So now I'm happily using the 32-bit PSP X6 with my scanner driver intact.

Hi

We have had several times that topic why Windows 64bit doesn't support TWAIN 64bit, like here.
