Zooming is a little finicky...

Post by DaveG74 »

I don't know if this happened while I was using PSP X1, but in X6, zooming tends to be a little finicky. I zoom in while hovering the pointer over the area I wish to examine. The zoom doesn't quite go where I want it to go. For example, if I'm trying to zoom into the corner of an image, I move my pointer up there and scroll the mouse wheel. But the scroll bars don't seem to go all the way into the corner.

Is there a more sufficient way to zoom in/out? Or do I just have to be more precise in where I hover?

X4 here, not X6. When zooming in, once the image fills the workspace it zooms under the cursor. Until it fills the workspace it, the spot you want to zoom in on can jump around. Is this what you mean?

No, I imagine the zoom function itself works as intended. It doesn't "jump around", per se -- what I mean is, the sensitivity/accuracy isn't as tight in on the cursor as it used to be. I can use the mouse's scroll wheel to zoom in to where I want to be, but I still have to use the scroll bars to navigate to the intended area...

Yup, this changed in X4 with its UI updates. People have requested it change back, but it hasn't.

For those that are unfamiliar with this feature.
In X2, I can place the cursor in top left image position and zoom in to x=0 and y=0 in almost one zoom action if already zoomed in to the upper quarter of the image.
In X6 after multiple zoom ins and outs I can only get as close as x=7 y= 25 and if I want to clone or paint in that top left group of pixels at the near pixel level, I have to move the side and bottom scroll bars to get there. Most innefficient .
