How to speed up PSP X6 64-bit?

Post by DaveG74 »

I just purchased PaintShop Pro X6 Ultimate and I'm enjoying it so far.

However, I noticed just like the Trial, that the application seems to run a little sluggishly. It loads no faster than my previous X1 did. The menu, at first, takes about a second to appear and the elements slowly load onto the screen.

Is there any way to speed up the operation time of PSP X6 64-bit -- you know, give it some "get up and go"?

Running as 64 bit only improves the processing in programs built to take advantage of it.
The loading of the program into RAM is still limited by the speed of your hard disk and the read write operations.
So the speed up should be noticed in the intense processing of large files not in load up .

Actually, I've noticed the same thing. In fact, X6, 64-bit, runs slower than X4 or X5 on TWO of my PC's, both of them i7, quad-core models with 16GB of RAM. In one instance I loaded up 10 curve layers, each with a unique mask on it, and when I go to adjust any of the layers, I can click/drag a point on the curve and roughly 30-seconds later, the screen will, finally, update. I do this same thing in Photoshop, which I own and do not like so much, the SAME file, on the same machine, with the same curves layers works in real-time, with no delay... On X4/X5 versions, the changes only take about 10-12 seconds each to enact. X6, 64-bit, certainly isn't anything that I thought it might be when I bought it. I'm hoping X7 actually brings on Photoshop-like speed, or I'm going to have to switch. :-( I so love the PSP interface, for photo editing, so much better...
