Audio Editing Procedure

Post by DayO »

I'm editing an audio track from a video sequence in VSP X5...

I know you split the audio track off from the video in the Timeline to make your audio edits--but what's next in this procedure?

Just a simple "Save," and that's it?

Remove what you don't want and save. You can recall it as needed. Are you afraid to experiment? Give it a try.

Hi

There is no reason to Split Audio as you can edit the audio within the video.
Splitting audio simply mutes the video and places a copy of the audio stream in a sound track, this can cause problems with audio sync’, take care.....

What are you trying to do with the audio.?
If you are intending to use an external audio editor to enhance the sounds then you will be best in creating a sound file (wav) of the video.
Go to Share – Create Sound File- Save as Type as Wav—then click Options for other settings.
Take note this will create a sound clip of the entire project.

If you wish to simply mute/ lower the levels or fade in / out then that can be done using Video Studio editing the video clip.

So what are you trying to do?

I'm applying the Audio Filters in VSP X5 to a video audio track, in order to reduce some background noise.

Except that I'm having trouble accessing the Audio Filters in a video segment, without splitting off
the audio track in the timeline....

It seems you can ONLY access Audio Filters in VSP X5 if you do a Split Audio (I'm trying to reduce background noise in some video clips)

And your own Web Board user guide, Understanding & Using Audio Filters, clearly states that "To access these filters and apply them to your clip's audio, you'll first need to separate the audio from the video...."

And I assume that a simple Save after the audio editing will suffice...?

Yes you need to split the audio to use the audio filters.

After you have split the audio click on the audio block in the timeline to select it -( yellow border all round it )

Open the 'Options' panel - blue button above right hand end of the timeline

In the options panel you will see an icon "Audio Filter" - click on that

A dialogue window will open with a list of audio filters in the left pane and an empty right pane with an "Add" central above them - select the filter you wish to apply and click the 'add and the filter will appear in the right pane indicating that it is applied to the sound track - you can only add one at a time but you can apply multiple filters.

Click on a filter in the right pane and click the 'options' button at the bottom of the audio filter dialogue window - this will open another panel to allow adjustments to the filter.

when you have finished with the setting click the OK to close that window - then click OK to close the audio filter window - the filter has now been applied to your audio - play - if not satisfactory go back to the audio filter and make further adjustments

When all is satisfactory "Share >> Create video file" to render a video with sound included
