I briefly tried an evaluation of Paint Shop Pro X6. The changes from my current version X1 are rather drastic (obviously). There is one change in particular which I struggle to grasp.
I noticed that the loaded image files are all tabbed. Usually, when I work with several images at once, I like to be able to move them around the screen in a manner of sorting/organizing. Another advantage is being able to see at least a portion (or zoomed out view) of every loaded image at once.
Are the image file tabs undockable/movable? I wonder if this might be a problem as far as editing convenience.

In the WIndow menu you'll notice a checkbox next to "Tabbed Documents" Just go ahead and deselect that.
Tabbed documents may be the default, but users have been very forceful with Corel to make sure windowed mode still works as expected.

I tried deselecting the Tabbed Documents. It works for a little while, but PSP always finds a way to go back to the tabbed state. If you are working with your camera images, it will drive you insane. Used it for a month and couldn't take it any more. What they need is a permanent way to keep the tabs off. I'm waiting for a revision or new version or work around - anything - before using again. I'm 77 and these darned tabs can put you in your grave if you're into photography.

Re: PSP X6 pre-purchase dilemma: Tabbed images
my workspace layout has a habit of changing. mostly when i drag an image in.
fortunately not everything changes so i have added a custom button 'recent workspace' to the menu. and now when it messes up i just hit that.
