VideoStudio Pro X7 Capture Video
I am trying to CAPTURE video using a StarTech PEXHDCAP PCI Express HDMI Video Capture Card. The card is recognised by VideoStudio Pro X7 as an Analogue input. But I am only offered NTSC as a Capture Format under DVD. I would like to Capture at HD but certainly in PAL format. Where I installed the product I specificed United Kingdom as country and PAL as preferred format. But the capture dialogue only offers NTSC formats even in the Templates option. Can you advise on how to access PAL capture formats?

Re: VideoStudio Pro X7 Capture Video
Did the StarTech device come with its own capture software? I ask since most capture devices have their own software which is tweaked to work with it. Video Studio is not tweaked to work with everything. So we normally advise people to capture with the software provided with the device, then open the captured video in VS for editing.

It would also be useful to know the source of your video - is it a camcorder - what is the output of that - is it NTSC or PAL

Re: VideoStudio Pro X7 Capture Video
The supplier Capture software is StreamCatcher which saves the output to mp4. At first I was having difficulty importing to Registered copy of VideoStudio Pro X4 it kept complaining about a File Format Mismatch. I tried the patch suggested by Corel, updating the ulmp4.dll file but did NOT help. I reinstalled Pro X4 and updated to SP3 , still didn't help. The files Pro X4 did accept ended up with sound problems.
Then I downloaded a trial version of Pro X7 and it was happy with the previously rejected mp4 files and managed to import edit and write as mp4. However for programmes of more than a few hours the sound becomes out of sync with the video.
I should add that I am using the StarTech HEXHDCAP HDMI card to import video from a VirginMedia TIVO, for the simple reason that I have filled the internal disk of the TIVO and need to export recodrings. I bought the capture card to retain the High Quality of recording.
The VideoStudio User manual suggests that the output can be captured in PAL and as mp4 or mpeg but I only get an option of DVD and the format template is all NTSC variants.
