The only thing that goes into "My Projects" are the project files - the .vsp files.

All other work goes to the working folder - which it sounds as though is the Documents >> 17.0 folder on your hard drive - BUT - you can define the working folder to be any folder at all on your hard drive - I usually make a working folder with the name of my project in the "Videos" folder.
