Dragan Script.

Post by shelfy »

I wonder if anyone can help...
I have been trying to purchase the Dragan script for PSP via the main Corel site.. $4.99.. bargain.
but checkout always asks whether I am in the USA or Canada (strangely the only 2 options) ... and I'm in Ireland... so am unable to complete the purchase and there aren't any appropriate *contact* options on the main site....
OK, a dumb question maybe but any help... gratefully received.
thanks.

I have no answer for getting the store to work for you. It could be that they're just testing things out and more countries will be added later.

However, have you seen the Dragan script in action vs the more standard methods? Corel has a video tutorial on performing the Dragan effect. In fact most of the tutorials I've read or seen use features that PSP has. So if you wanted to make your own Dragan script you could.

The script on sale uses some options that I've never seen used to create the Dragan effect. So it is unique in that way.

The following examples were made using the Corel Tutorial on the Dragan effect - http://corel.force.com/support/articles ... popup=true

And the image from that tutorial, as well as the following image from MorgueFile - http://www.morguefile.com/archive/display/123097

In my opinion, while the script does a good job of bringing out the details, I don't personally like the results. Especially the way it effects the background. But that's just me. And I did a terrible job on the other side as well.

Hey Levi, thanks for the quick and helpful response. :)
Yep, seen the Corel tutorial and followed it a couple of times with fair results.... that's what got me interested in the script... it's not the kind of effect you'd use too much, and I think really only works with portraits of characters who already have some character (erm... wrinkles lol) but I figured for 5 dollars it's gotta be worth a look.

I've had similar results using the sharpen tools in Topaz Adjust and topaz Detail.. great plug-ins.
my thanks again.

Just wanted to make sure you know you can easily record a simple script in PSP for free.

First if you don't have your Script toolbar visible, go to View - > Toolbars - > Scripts

Next Click on the Start Script Recording button; it looks like a red circle or ball . Now follow the Corel Dragan Effect tutorial. When you are finished, click on the Save Script Recording button (last button on toolbar). You will be prompted to name the script so you can find it for future use.

To use the script select it from the drop down box on the toolbar and click the run script button which is the first button on the toolbar.

I'm not sure what your comfort level is with PSP so if you get stuck post back and one of us will help you.

Brilliant, my thanks Kathy... I'm pretty au fait with PSP but rarely save "edit details / scripts... though I often save settings in the Topaz plug-ins.
that's really helpful and very much appreciated.

Glad to help and I'm a big Topaz fan too by the way.
