Embarrassing Question

Post by hardlucksam »

New owner X6 64 bit. I chose a picture I wanted to crop. I did something and now the Crop Tool drop down arrow is missing.
Sure would like to get it back. Would appreciate suggestions. Thank you

Not sure what you mean here. Are you meaning that the tool is missing? or the presets with drop down choices is missing? or the floating crop tool bar with the Apply tick, Clear etc buttons.

Is that whole toolbar missing? If so, click on View -> Palettes -> Tool Options

I wish I could send a picture. Always have a problem with url's. When I click the crop tool, another window pop's out with a green check mark,
a tool called crop as new image, other says clear, something called rule of thirds, rotate, and another window that has a drop down with words
like free form, last applied, and so forth.
Hope this makes sense. Appreciate the help.

What you are describing is the floating toolbar. If you want to turn it off go to File -> Preferences - General Program Preferences -> Transparency and Shading and un-tick the box that says "enable floating crop toolbar".

Still not sure what you mean by the "crop drop down arrow".

OK I now have an idea of what you mean. In your first statement you mentioned the Crop Tool when you should have mentioned is the floating Crop toolbar below the crop window. And I gather that the presets arrow is missing.
Image
My cursor is over the arrow that you say is missing. If you click your mouse there does it appear - ie are you using a color of workspace that makes it appear invisible?

These presets are also available up the top left where it says Presets:
Image

Is the down arrow missing from there as well?
You might try resetting the tool to defaults as shown by my cursor arrow.
If none of that works you might try and set the program to the defaults.
Hold the Shift key down as you start the program up from your desktop shortcut icon and accept Yes change to defaults.

hartpaul, I must be loosing my mind. I noticed in your presets picture the toolbar showing the Cropping tool has no drop down arrow either.
I thought it did. Have to apologize to all who tried to help me. I'm sorry for any inconvenience I may have caused. Thank you all again.
