Why does burning take so long?

Post by shenacat »

I downloaded the trial version and am making a video cd. I own the Nero package already and was distressed by the lack of options while editing VCD menus. While this package offers more options for building menus, it seems to take about 12 times as long to burn a cd as Nero.

Considering that the only difference in the data I am burning is the placement of the movie thumbnails, the font size and placement, and a slightly different background image, I do not see why the burning is taking so long. My video files are already compatible MPEG files and are not being converted, just burned. It is the title that is taking forever to "convert".

Is there something I can do to speed the process up, or is this package just really deficient in this area?

what the properties of your MPEGs? right click on the clip and select media properties.

Format: MPEG-1

Video Type: MPEG-1 Video
Total Frames: 32,827 Frame(s)

Audio Type: MPEG Audio Layer 2 Files

Would this effect the title conversion so much?

It would at least require MF to convert it to MPEG-2. MPEG 1 is used in VCD so that would explain why it is faster. DVD uses MPEG 2.

I'm slightly confused by your comment, AnimeChick. I am burning a VCD with MF, not a DVD. The same VCD takes much longer to burn on MF than it does on Nero. Are you saying that MF has to re-convert my MPEG-1 files to MPEG-2?

Sorry. Didn't read in detail. So many people here are making DVDs. Suggestion revoked.
