Unable to import files to kpt presets cells

Post by cookie1234 »

I am using kpt collection (Paintshop Pro X6 Ultimate on Windows 6.1). The kpt user guide states that one can import one's own presets for some of the effects. However, I find no explanation for what type of file is needed for importing. I'm unable to import any file so far; because the prompt says "error occurred, composite file expected." How do I save a file so that I'll be able to import it into one of the presets cells? And where should it be placed on my computer so I'll be able to access it from the import presets dropdown menu?

Which KPT Plugins are you using?

With the KPT gradient lab, the import function shows it requires a KPT Gradient (*.gra) file to import. So I suspect they are referring to importing the presets from another installation of KPT. So when you upgrade to PSPX6, you install KPT for PSPX6 specifically but now it no longer contains presets that you made back in a previous version of PSP. The import lets you bring those into the new KPT install, so you haven't lost anything.

At least that's my best guess.

Thank you for responding; The user guide is a little confusing. Does the following mean one can create one's own preset? Sounds like but I'm not sure. Here's a direct quote from the user guide:

Working with presets
Some Corel KPT Collection filters provide you with preset effects.
You can load a preset effect. You can also save an effect you
create as a preset. You can create multiple presets categories in
which to organize the presets you store.
You can import and export presets.

I am working on, I assume, the latest version of kpt; because I downloaded it recently from the Corel website. This passage is from the guide that came with it. (I say
I assume
because I'm not computer savvy enough to figure out where to look in order to find out which version I have.

I think what it means is that you load a preset that comes with the program. Then, you alter it by messing around with the various sliders and if you like what you've created, you can then save it as a preset.

Appears as if the import option has to do with loading Corel kpt files; whereas the add preset option has to do with using Corel presets to make

one's own preset and then saving it. So I think you're both correct; and thanks for the help.
