Videostudio X7 Registration Issues - Corel Guide access
Hi,
I have recently upgraded from X6 to X7 (Windows 7, 64 bit). X6 is properly regiustered and I have no problem to download the free content.
With X7 I cannot register from the program and I cannot access thre Corel Guide (and downloading the Do More free content). I have clearly registered the product with Corel but this does not help to sign-in within the program application.
I have a ticket open with Coprel and I already implementeds all suggestions:
- resetting Internet setting and using IE as defalut browser
- cleaning the computer and making a new "clean" re-install of X7
- updating all drivers
The only think I did'n do is to remove X6 before installing X7, but I am not willing to remove a working application before the new one is also fully OK.
By the way, in the meantime I have imported the free content from X6 to X7, but this will not work in case of exclusive free content only available to X7.
Any other idea about what I can try to do to access the Corel Guide through X7?
Thanks

Hi Bruno
First to access the Corel Guide Downloads (Get More Content) section you have to select the Orange ring icon adjacent to the library, Top Left.
X6 was top right, the blue ring you see there accesses the discovery section.
Once you access the Corel Guide what do you see, can you save a screen shot of that window (Alt+PrSc) to copy.

Re: Videostudio X7 Registration Issues - Corel Guide access
Hi,
Yes, I know where the Orange icon is. When I click on it, it open normally the Corel Guide and it ask me to proceed registering in order to access the content. When I click on the registration link, a new windows open but the content is blanck, i.e. no form to be filled or text is visible (see attachment).
Last thinkl I just did it, as requested from corel support, is to reset the program message folder by renaming the current folder as "Messages_old". I did it but now when I click on othe Orange icon even the Corel Guide window does not open any more (and the same problem occurs on the X6 version of the programme!).
Thanks
Bruno

Re: Videostudio X7 Registration Issues - Corel Guide access
Hi Bruno
There have been some problems with Internet Explorer and extra tool bars, Browse Protect, Browser Manager, Babylon come to mind (malware), Can you check your tool bars, view “Programs and Features” for any unusual installed , non standard tool bars.
Have you visited the Corel Site to register the program there rather doing via the Guide?
Alt F4 will shut the active window, however may also close the guide?

Re: Videostudio X7 Registration Corel Guide IMPOSSIBLE REGIS
Hi Bruno,
I have exacly the same problem, when I try to register to Corel Guide, appears a Window in blank, and I can not do anything.
Its a big problem because I can not access to extra on-line templates and content.
I attach the screen capture hoping someone at Corel help us with this error/issue.
Thanks for the help!
Regards
anna

Re: Videostudio X7 Registration Issues - Corel Guide access
Hi Trevor,
I only have the Google Search bar active. As one of the first trouble-shooting actions I did was to disable all the tool bars in IE and perform a full reset of the Internet settings. Alt F4 close the registration window and leaves me in Corel Guide, but in Corel Guide I cannot do anything until I sign-in. I have registered the programme with Corel, but this does not help, as to access the "Do more" menu in corel guide you have first to sign in from the programme itself! Also Corel Support confirmed to me that this step cannot be bypassed. By the way, the issue is only with the registration window. The Discovery Centre window works perfectly and also all the other program features, at least as far as I have been using them in the past days.

Hi
I just don’t know guys but can you try the following?
Have you tried running the program with Administrator rights.
Right click the icon on the desktop and Run as Admin.
If you right click the green Register Now button are you given the option to run in new window?
Ctrl + F5 should force the window to re-load from server.

I've got this same problem. Click to register the program and just get a blank window.

Hi Trevor,
Following your suggestions:
- I did run as an administrator but nothing change
- If I right click the green register now button nothing happens (it look like it is disabled in this window)
- The Cntrl + F5 as well seems not active (nothing happens when clicking on it from the registration window)
Thanks for your suggestions
Bruno

Hello again,
Thanks for replying.
I tried with the suggested options:
Run as an administrator > again i get blank window with disabled right clik button > Ctrl +F5 did´nt work...
So I am still with the same problem, as I noticed many of us have exactly the same problem with registration, does Corel Corporation team knows this issue?
Thanks all help is appreciated!

Re: Videostudio X7 Registration Issues - Corel Guide access
I have advised the Corel exec in charge of VS to have a look at this thread and another. She is located in Taiwan, so I don't expect an immediate reply... But I will report back when/if I receive any more information.

Re: Videostudio X7 Registration Issues - Corel Guide access
Hi Lata,
I tried with the solution by alexs3 and it worked at last
This is what I did:
1. From the control panel windows set to default settings the Internet Explorer
2. In Internet Explorer settings add properties to trusted hosts http://www.corel.com, iws.corel.com, apps.corel.com, corel.com. For trusted sites allow all ActiveX launch options.
3. Clear the cooke and cache in Internet Explorer.
4. For Windows 7. Remove the all files in the SystemDrive:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Corel\Messages (Example c:\Users\Poll\AppData\Roaming\Corel\Messages)
Thanks for all the help, now I can download extra content
