Saving a project to an mp3 file

Post by phnxrsngbr »

Hello,

I have VS 2, 3, 4 and 5 (but I never installed 5). I'm considering upgrading to 7 but don't want to if it won't save to the mp3 format. None of my other versions will do that. Will this?

Thanks!

Not sure why you would want to save files created with a video editing program to mp3, but VSX7 can save audio to the following formats: .wma .m4a .ogg and .wav.
Saving as mp3 is not listed as an option

But mp3 is specifically an audio format, not a video format. And if you want to split the audio from the video in Video Studio (right click the video in the timeline and choose Split Audio) in X7 it can only be saved (Share > Audio) as .wma, .ogg, .m4a and standard .wav but not mp3.

EDIT: Beat me to the punch, Robert!

While I normally use this as a video program, I have done voice-overs with music background in VS, as well. I don't have any other program to do this in so needed an Mp3 format in this program. I'll just start looking for a voice program instead.

Thanks!

I have to say that successive versions of VS have had problems with certain mp3 codecs, and particularly the LAMEmp3 one... Our advice in those cases was always to convert the audio in an audio editing package (such as the freeware Audacity) to standard .wav. This could be a reason why it is not offered as an output format in X7.
