new Voice over device error
Voice-over had been working great. Then out of the blue I started getting: Device error: Cannot open the wave-in device. How do I fix it?

Have you checked whether the microphone is still working in Windows generally? Is it just plugged into the computer's MIC port or is it connected by some other device and perhaps to a LINE-IN port? Which version of VS are you using? And what are your computer's other specifications, in particular whether there is a separate sound card or just on-board audio?

I am using Video Studio Pro X6.
Sorry, I do not have a clue how to the answer the other questions you asked. I used the voice-over many times, without external mike. Then all of a sudden I got the message error. I record other programs like Voki using the computers mike with no problem. Thanks for trying to help.

Re: new Voice over device error
Since you are using your computer's mike, can we assume your computer is a laptop?
Can you please open Windows Control Panel and click on the Sounds icon. Under the Recording tab, what is shown as the default device? Can you try the other available options there? Maybe somehow or other the in-built mike has been switched to something else as the default device...?

Under the recording tab: Microphone/ Line In is default. Under the icon it says: IDT High Definition Audio CODEC is the default devise
Microphone Array: IDT High Definition Audio CODEC says ready.
I tried both as the default and I am still getting Devise error:Cannot open the wave-in devise.
There are two other icons that say "Currently Unavailable": Doc Mic and Rec.Playback
