Help with saving from Aftershot and opening in Paintshop
HI, can someone help me with saving and opening? I am new to Corel and have a lot to learn. This morning I edited in Aftershot and followed the dialogue boxes to save to an external drive. In Paintshop (the same folder I had saved to in Aftershot was already open in Paintshop) I looked for the image I had edited in aftershot and saved to the folder that was open in Paintshop, but it isnt there and hasnt come up. Can someone tell me what i am doing wrong please? How do i get edited shots in aftershot to come up in paint shop? Thanks.

Use the External Editor (Ctrl+E) to invoke PSP.
You set it up under File \ Preferences.
It can write a TIFF file that PSP reads and opens.

Re: Help with saving from Aftershot and opening in Paintshop
Thanks for getting back to me so soon. I still dont seem to be having much luck, however. I have tried Ctrl+E in the program and nothing happens. I have gone into preferences and looked in all the sub menu folders but I dont think i know what i am looking for. All the info in there that make sense to me are ticked. Is there anything specific i need to tick?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Help with saving from Aftershot and opening in Paintshop
Under File \ Preferences \ External Editor (3rd from the bottom)
enter the Editor as Corel PaintShop Pro (you have to "Choose" the program from Program Files)
File Format TIFF 16-BIT
Color Space sRGB.
Then Ctrl+E will work!

Re: Help with saving from Aftershot and opening in Paintshop
I have tried again to get images into PSP this morning but am having no luck.
At the minute i am having to upload from the card reader using Lightroom and saving the images as DNG so my computer can read them, otherwise, because i may have several cards to upload, i dont know what they are. However, having saved them to a new file in the computer, refreshing the PSP page, the new folder comes up under the 'computer tab' but the program doesnt recognise any of the pictures. It says there are none there when clearly there are. I am having real problems just getting the images into PSP and may have to go back to Lightroom at this stage due to these basic problems, or am i doing something wrong? Thanks

Re: Help with saving from Aftershot and opening in Paintshop
Hi Tadjio, thanks for your rapid response.I have looked at the preferences tab again, and from File>Preferences>third from bottom is Autosave settings. I have gone through all the menus under the Preferences tab and there is no 'External Editor' option. I am on PSP x6 ultimate-does this make a difference? Thanks

Re: Help with saving from Aftershot and opening in Paintshop
Here is my workflow.
Edit RAW in ASP until happy.
Goto File / Save File As
Choose 16 bit TIFF and in the Post Processing section (bottom right) choose PSP X6 as the editor.
PSP X6 then opens with the image ready for polishing.

Re: Help with saving from Aftershot and opening in Paintshop
Why don't you just have PSP X6 as your External Editor?

Why castrate the image to sRGB and then waste space on 16bits?
Use 16bit plus ProPhoto.

Depends on the subject.Tadjio wrote:ok, I have changed it. Can one really see a difference?
You might want to follow the sRGB link in my signature.

Re: Help with saving from Aftershot and opening in Paintshop
PSP will use whatever profile you have installed on your computer. Not sure how to do it in Win8 but with Win7 you'd go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel AfterShot Pro\supportfiles\Profiles then find the profile you'd like to use (in this case ProphotoRGB.ICM), right click it then click Install Profile. Once installed reopen PSP, click File> Color Management> Color Working Space. Choose your working color space and have at it.

File / Colour Management / Colour Working Space and choose ProPhoto (you may have to find the profile as DF says)Tadjio wrote:Thanks. Trouble is, I don't think PaintShop Pro supports ProPhoto...afx wrote:Depends on the subject.Tadjio wrote:ok, I have changed it. Can one really see a difference?

The trouble is that, although you can work in ProPhoto, you can't save (a jpeg for example) with sRGB embedded. (this is by far my number one complaint with PSP)
