Hi,
- Is it possible to apply shadow to the overlay video if it is masked or is it chroma keyed?
All I can see that the shadow is full frame rectangular and not just the keyed/masked video (like it should). So what is your work around?
- Transition is also applied to the full frame and not just to the mask/key overlay. If I want to have the overlay show up with a clock type of wipe , it will wipe the full frame background also not just the keyed portion of the overlay.
Are these culprits can be overcome with the "ultimate" addons?
Thank you.

Re: Shadows/trans on the overlays?
Hi
I don’t understand your reference to shadow and Chroma Key, can you explain a little further. ( Oh I think I understand now--yes)
AB Transitions
Some transitions do affect the whole frame others only affect the overlay clip.
Using X7 Corel have provided a AB library page containing the transitions suitable for overlay track, there are 40, all others affect the full frame.
For earlier versions of VS you will have to try a few to see which work on the overlay track only, then save those to the Favourites (right click and Add to Favourites)
What version of video studio are you using?
Hope this helps

Re: Shadows/trans on the overlays?
Tnx, for reply Trevor
X7 is not working well on my system, but I found those "analog" wipes, they work well only without border as they still "wipe" the lower tracks also.
PowerDirector12 can do transition only on the key/alpha, can do all complicated transitions and add borders just to the keyed video. (but has terrible learning curve)
Have you tried any of the Ultimate "extras" for this task?
Can they be used on the overlay tracks at all?

Hi
Sorry but I don’t understand, you say “but I found those "analog" wipes, they work well only without border as they still "wipe" the lower tracks also.”
What borders, are you referring to Chroma mask frames???
If you wish create a small project using the samples from the library, apply your effects, transitions etc…
Save the project as a VSP then attach the VSP to your post, attachments options at the bottom of your post.
We will then be able to see what effects you are having problems with.
The ultimate extra plugins/ filters, Script, Rotopen, Vitascene, Mercalli and Boris can be applied to any clip on the timeline. Work.
Drag an FX effect to a clip, the options panel Attributes tab should show the filters applied – Customise
Tip double click any clip to open the options panel, then choose attributes tab.

Re: Shadows/trans on the overlays?
Here a screen shot of what I look for Trevor,
http://www.imagebam.com/image/aaa123321700824
I keyed the pink of the logo, added shadow and gradient border to the logo
all this in a crappy (sometimes free) generic editor.
