This stupid error occured when extracting Contents64.msi, please see this below screenshot:
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-zicoEfICJCE/U ... lure+2.jpg

What does it means? what is Catastrophic?? I have tried it on my own pc, and i got the same problem when installing it on my office pc.

I really don't have idea what the problem is, i hope any expert or corel developer on this closed forum.

I hope the solution is not about download it again and trying it on another pc again. :(

Couple months ago before Corel VideoStudio X7 released, i got same problem while installing X6 on this discussion Error 5012 while installing Video Studio Pro x6 trial , i have downloaded twice times, installed on many pc and none understood my problem. No expert on this forum.

Can somebody help me out?? i hope admin will approve this posting of my problem.

Hi
Sorry you are still having issues with installation of Video Studio.
To be honest I have no idea as to why you should have this problem.
Corel do have a facebook account which apparently is staffed by Corel Employees, you can try asking the question there.

OK
Is your pc upto date as regards Windows Updates?
You have run a full anti virus scan and your pc is clean?

Corel do recommend installing from safe mode, can you try that.

Hi
Update
You seem to be having more than your share of problems, not only with X7 but earlier with X6. Your PC spec looks on the limit as to the minimum required to run the program, but should get past the extract files stage, something is clearly wrong.

1 / Can you confirm that your computer is upto date with regards to Windows Updates.

2 / Can you check your Motherboard drivers, graphics drivers that you are using the latest versions.
You will have to visit your MB web site, some sites scan your pc to auto check this.

3 / Scan your pc for unwanted walware/viruses

4 / Check Your web browser and Programs and Features for Babylon, Browser Protect, any unusual nonstandard browser tool bars.

I notice that you have Win 8.1 installed on your system, according to Foxcomm there are no audio or chipset drivers for Win 8.1. the last driver update was March 2009 for Win 7.
Also your onboard video card is 7 years old and certainly would not have enough resources to run current video editing programs.
You are trying to install a program that requires considerable computer resources on a system that is just not up to the task.
You should consider upgrading your system because no matter what you try with your present setup it will not work.
Corel recommend an Intel i5 as a minimum, so trying to install on an i3 notebook may not achieve the results you would hope for

And for the record, I have Win 8.1 Pro 64 bit installed on an i3, and VS X7 installs and works just fine on it, including all the high def stuff I throw at it...

As Ken has confirmed that VSX7 can be installed on an i3 and as you get exactly the same error on 2 computers, it's possible that the Installshield is corrupt so you may need to download the program again and have another try

@RobertOZ and Ken Berry:
it can be extracted, and hang with catastropic white extracting Contents64.msi, that mean my download file is fine.
I'm sure, my download file is fine, not corrupted, but there is some requirement thing that should be met with my pc , and i don;t know what is it, and corel installation doesn't tell it.

Hi

Everything seems to point to a corrupt download file, as you have tried installing on two pc's with the same errors

except you had similar problems with X6 download, I assume the errors were the same.

Video Studio X7, are you downloading the trial version or have you purchased the program from Corel.

Can you try this:-

First go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Ultimate X7 Setup Files

Delete the folder Setup Files folder, if that folder does exist. But only the Setup folder.

Disable your anti virus program.
To run the file, right click and choose Run As Administrator.

Does that make a difference.

As Lata has stated, everything seems to point to a corrupt download and we really are at a loss to figure out what is causing your installation problems, I still believe that it is a InstallShield problem. Go to C:ProgramFiles(x86)/Common Files and delete the InstallShield folder, but make a backup of it first, so that you can reinstall if necessary, it's possible that the corruption is caused by whats currently in the folder, and deleting it will cause VSX7 to create a new one, but the fact that you get the same error on a different computer means that it may not work, but give it a try.

You could also try updating the installer, go to

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download ... px?id=8483

This will update to version 4.5

Do you have any issues installing other programs, or is it just Video Studio that you have problems with
