When I have a new project open and I try to insert an Iphone 5 video from a directory on my PC, It say's I need quicktime. Obviously Quicktime runs those videos. Will the install of quicktime actually help me import the Iphone5 videos? I prefer not to install Quicktime if I don't have to. All other devices, android, camcorder videos insert just fine.

Re: Importing Iphone5 videos
The problem is that you do indeed have to install Quicktime since it installs the codec necessary for Video Studio to be able to read your iPhone video. Don't blame Corel -- it's Apple that needs QT in order for its videos to be able to be edited. For some time, QT used to be installed as part of the Video Studio package, but it was dropped for X5 and X6, but is again now installed with X7. Indeed, it's not just the iPhone which outputs in a Quicktime format. There are now quite a few other still cameras which can film video which also use that format, so you are not alone!! Anyway, QT is not a nasty program...

Re: Importing Iphone5 videos
I never understood why Quicktime has this "bad boy" image - I have had a copy on my computer for many years now and update regularly - it is essential to edit many videos.
Some people complain that it takes over every thing but I believe the important thing is to make sure that when installing you uncheck every single box in the 'file associations' window so that nothing is allocated to Quicktime by default, on very odd occasions a pop up will ask if you want to change file associations but a quick 'NO' sends it away.
