import export database

I am trialling x6 . I wish to use on PC with windowsxp and laptop with windows 7 and sync people ,event tags between the two . Tried using import export database . It appears to update the lists of people etc entered on other computer ,but doesn't show the photos tagged on the other computer when a person is selected from people menu . Is this normal ? for information the my picture folder is on hard disk D: on PC and C: on laptop . I sync the actual photos between the two with a sync program Syncbac se .
Is there a solution . Also ,would replacing the db file in appdata folder have same effect as import export database ?
