Greetings from Spain!
I'm new to Video Studio and though I have tried several others for the past years I do love it!
I’m using Win7 Home, 8GB memory, 2GB video card and all my software and drivers up to date. I’m using the downloaded version of X7 Ultimate 64bit (installed last Wed 02/Apr). Bonus pkgs and several templates have also been installed.
Before posting , I spent a good while using the search option in the forum with no luck. I have stumbled across a topic opened by jkhill74 that resembles this problem in many ways but file type (mpg Vs. avi).
To the point I’m doing several tutorials for Youtube (Biker’s Garage 101) and I’m using several cameras to take shots and then mix them. Cameras: Fujifilm Finepix 1500, a small Pentax and Cannon FS100.
I’ve got no problem unloading and processing the Cannon vids. Initial tests came out great; they work right away (mpg) but to my surprise when I tried using the Pentax and Fujifilm (avi) files, I found that there is no sound!!! It’s not that the sound “isn’t there” it’s just that X7 does not reproduce it.
If I open these using DIVX they work fine, and the odd thing is that once I place the vid on the time line and split the audio track, THEN I can hear the audio. WOW now ain’t that wierd?!
What am I doing wrong???
X7 .avi audio no sound.

Re: X7 .avi audio no sound.
Since we don't know the properties -- and particularly the audio properties -- of those avi files, it is impossible to say what might be wrong. So please right click on one file of each type of avi, either in the VS timeline or library window, and copy ALL their properties here -- or take a screen grab of the Properties boxes and upload them here as attachments.
One other question. It has been years since I have had a Finepix, but I seem to recall it came with an installation disc. Did that happen with your Finepix and Pentax? Did you install those discs? They could contain specific codecs which VS could then use.

Re: X7 .avi audio no sound.
Thanks for the reply Ken. Good point!
I will do that this afternoon as soon as I get home.
I cannot remember if I downloded from the camer using the Fuji software or not so THAT could be the problem.
Further to my previous email, I have also noticed that if I open the .avi files using DIVX sound does work but if I open with win media it does not!
Will pulg in all the infor that you requested ASAP.
Many thanks

I've installed the Finepix viewer software and imported the files from my camera and I still have no sound. Here is a copy of the file properties:

Have no clue as to what to do now but will install Windows 7 Codec Pack reset and see what happens
