Copy and paste just sound

Post by Screwball »

I have several video clips where there is a continual and even background sound (a hoover)that I don't want to lose, but there are instances during the clips where someone talks loudly. I can of course split the audio to edit and remove the talking but this also removes the continual background sound. Is it possible to copy JUST the continual sound and replace the removed sound section with the copied section?

After you have split the audio use the scissor tool to cut either side of the bits of audio you want to remove and then select them and hit 'delete'

now drag one of the bits of audio you want to keep up into the library where it will create a new Thumbnail.

now drag the thumbnail back down into the audio track as many times as you need to fill the gaps - as the hoover noise is continuous and not especially synced to the picture then just slide the audio blocks along the audio track to fill and/or close up the gaps.

Thanks a million, I hoped it could be done, but didn't think it could! The millions of hours saved by forums.
