Lettering size
On my 1920x1080 monitor, the folder names in the File System view are too small for my aging eyes to read comfortably at my normal arms-length monitor distance. Is there any way to make these names larger?

Nope.
Are you sure you did not set the option for smaller fonts?
Apart from that, I strongly suggest multifocals
They make life much easier at a certain age.....
