Re: How to work with "nonstandard" GoPro Resolutions in X7?
FWIW, we have received an interim reply from Yvonne, saying she is taking it up with her software engineering team to see what they can do about allowing more customisation of templates.
In the meantime, I have finally found the time to download GoPro Studio (110 MB) and will play around with that. I'll report back when I have any news.

Re: How to work with "nonstandard" GoPro Resolutions in X7?
OK... I have now played around a bit with GoPro Studio, but have no good news to report. First off, here's what the Studio Manual has to say about output:
The other two formats it can produce in are Quicktime's .mov version of h.264 and .avi produced using Studio's CineForm codec. The properties for that are as follows: I converted the original you made available to both mov and avi formats, then inserted them (separately) into New Projects in VS. The first bit of bad news is that, though I had the box ticked in Preferences, I did not get a message when I inserted either clip asking if I wanted the Project Properties to match those of the clip. So that ruled out the possibility of using Share > Create Video File > Same as Project Properties. However, Same As First Clip was at least available in the case of the .avi. It was not in the case of the .mov -- but we were already well aware that VS cannot produce high def h.264 in mov format, so no real surprise there. But at least you can edit and produce a new video in VS using the Cineform .avi format.
The second bit of bad -- indeed worse -- news was that when I transferred the new avi (from VS) and the original mov clip (from Studio) to a USB stick drive, neither were available when I plugged the USB drive into my Blu-Ray player (in this case a Sony PlayStation 3). The .avi brought up an error message on the PS3 saying it was "unsupported data". And the .mov file was not even listed as being available. (And just to be clear, yes, they were in the VIDEO folder on the USB drive required by the PS3... Other formats in that folder were there and played.)
A third bit of bad news is that both the avi and mov files were approx three to four times the size of the original mp4.
I confess I haven't yet looked into how flexible Studio might be in producing a new .mp4 file with the same properties as the original, though you'd think it should be possible, given that the 1440 setting is a GoPro setting... But equally, the Manual reference above could possibly be because YouTube and Vimeo don't accept 1440 and would convert it to a format they *do* use i.e. 1080p... But I have never used either YouTube or Vimeo, and thus will leave it to others to investigate that possibility.
EDIT: I have now found that Studio will indeed allow a Custom set-up for output files after editing. So I set it to output to identical properties as the original, which it did. However, on inserting that new file into VS, it did not change the Project Properties to match, but still came up with the same "cannot be trimmed" error message as the original when I tried to use Same As First Clip...
Although the above indicates you can output in h.264 mp4 (which is the GoPro native format), it also indicates that the maximum vertical format size is 1080 which rather rules out the 1440p in this particular case. When you’re finished editing, you can export your movie to a format that’s easy to share on YouTube™, Vimeo™ and other sites, or to a high-quality master file that can be used for broadcast outlets or archival purposes.
GoPro Studio enables you to do the following:
• Easily create GoPro-style videos using GoPro Edit Templates
• Mix, edit and add effects to any number of clips, filmed at different resolutions
and frame rates, with no visual loss of quality
• Export your GoPro Studio projects as h.264 .mp4 files at up to 1080p resolution
for sharing on YouTube or Vimeo
• Export a high-quality master file up to 4K resolution in the GoPro CineForm
format for broadcast or archival purposes

Thanks for all the work Ken, I think we can rest assured we aren't going to get anywhere until the software has been re-engineered.
Now for me to trial and error all conversion apps, to see fi I can find anything that will output mine

Thanks for your continued efforts on this! Youtube can import the 1440P48 format "as is" without any problem:

Well if they can accept that frame format, a temporary solution would be to use GoPro Studio. It can do some basic editing, as well as things like correcting at least some of the fish-eye effect you get with the wide angle settings of the Hero.

I did a test using Roxio Creator 2012 on the 1920x1440 47.92 fps clip and C2012 rendered it back to a 1920x1440 47.92 format when I used the "same as original" setting.

I've lost track of Roxio over the years, but I assume that -- like Nero -- it still offers video editing as part of the suite...?

Re: How to work with "nonstandard" GoPro Resolutions in X7?
Yes, Roxio still does the full video package. It has some features that are easier then with VS but then lacks some features present in V. I also find it renders faster then VS in many cases.
The ideal program for Corel would be to merge the best features from each.
A simple test I did using smeagle's short clip was to insert the clip, add a photo image and then add the clip again. Selecting "same as original" created a rendered video with "most" properties the same as the original. There were some changes in the bit rate but not enough that I could see a difference. Of course the clip is too short to really make a good comparison.

Nope...
And I wouldn't be holding my breath if you are waiting for Corel to do something...

Re: How to work with "nonstandard" GoPro Resolutions in X7?
Hi all.
I'm newbie to VS7, and i'm trying to make a non-standard rating video for a videowall theater proiection purpose. Screen are 3072 x 768 (3 projectors 1024x768 each), and I'm trying to configurate a new project with that rate.
Problems:
1) "User defined" option seems to be blocked with all formats (DV, HDV, ecc...). A new personal profile, trying with almost (as I remember) all formats available, neither one permits me to use "user defined" option....
2) Choosed a High 4k res 16:9 but it's just impossible (for me: i'm new to VS7) to manage the black bars, and projected image is awful.... And as i'm using a low-cost equipment (matrox p- series with hd Epson home projectors), videos in standard shapes (16:9, 16:10, 4:3) are showed aways with great black spaces.....
Any suggestion?
Thank you very much, and... sorry for the bad English...
